Shrinking is an upcoming comedy-drama which will be premiering on Apple TV+. The original Series is created and written by Jason Segel, Brett Goldstein and Bill Lawrence. Directed by James Ponsoldt, the series was announced back in October 2021, and Apple confirmed that it would consist of 10 episodes. The production began in October 2022.

Apple is known for creating heartfelt shows that connect with the audience; this is another one of their reflective projects. The series is explained as the story of an ordinary man struggling to move on from a tragic incident that flipped his entire life upside down.

Jason Segel takes up the lead role as Jimmy Laird, and Harrison Ford as Dr Paul Rhodes plays the father’s role. The rest of the supporting and recurring cast includes Jessica Williams as Gaby, Christa Miller as Liz, Michael Urie as Brian, Luke Tennie as Sean, Lukita Maxwell as Alice, Tilky Jones as Donny, Lilan Bowden as Tia, Heidi Gardner as Grace, Kimberly Condict as Wally, Rachel Stubington as Summer, Matt Knudsen as Steven, Mike C. Shrinking Plot/Synopsis

The official Apple TV synopsis of the show reads as follows:

Jimmy is struggling to grieve the loss of his wife while being a dad, friend, and therapist. He decides to try a new approach with everyone in his path: unfiltered, brutal honesty. Can he help himself by helping others? Will it bring him back into the Harrison Ford light?

The plot of the series is about a grieving man who has trouble moving on. As a therapist, he is supposed to listen to his patients and help them move on from their issues, but he faces trouble. Due to such unsettling feelings, the man starts to make rash decisions that might result in more complicated situations.

Forgetting his ethics and leaving behind every training he has received so far, Jimmy begins to do things his way. He meddles in the lives of his patients so he can solve their problems more effectively, but the methods he has opted for can result in disastrous situations. His father tries to convince him to get back into his normal life, but he defies everyone and follows his heart.

The series is bound to become relatable to the audiences, who are also attempting to move on. The people in our lives, especially therapists who are supposed to help us get through the tough phases of life, also need help sometimes. The show will be about an individual battling sorrowful feelings and insecurities.
