Inside Job Season 2 got Cancelled by Netflix and fans are livid. It is an animated show on Netflix created by Shion Takeuchi that follows a top-secret organisation in the US, as they create chaos and buries world conspiracies. While the show was originally scheduled to come back for a second season, the streaming platform now went back on its decision dooming this as one of the many shows meeting the same fate.
Creator Takeuchi took to Twitter to share the news. She wrote, “I’m sorry guys, it’s true.” Confirming the news, she elaborates, “I’m heartbroken to confirm that Netflix has decided to cancel Season 2 of Inside Job. Over the years, these characters have become real people to me, and I am devastated not to be able to watch them grow up. Reagan and Brett deserved to get their ending and finally find happiness. And I would have loved to been able to share what was in store with you all.”
She concludes by saying, “To everyone who watched, thank you for coming along on the ride. Even though I’m sad, it helps to know that there’s people out there who cared just as much about these characters as me.”
Writer on the show, Chase Mitchell, had previously tweeted vague statements calling out an unnamed streaming platform. After fans sleuthed on the internet, they found that he may have spoken about Inside Job. While fans are extremely sad about the show getting cancelled, they are not afraid for Takeuchi. She has written for some critically acclaimed animated shows like Gravity Falls and was even part of the animation department for Inside Out.
Viewers of the show are questioning whether they should keep their Netflix subscriptions or not. Furthermore, they have also been calling out the platform for renewing certain other less-liked animated shows while cancelling the good ones. In this swarm, they have also implored other platforms to pick up this show instead of relying on Netflix to bring this show back.
Inside Job follows the protagonist Reagan Ridley as she leads a team in inventing and controlling the status quo behind the scenes. The Netflix description reads, “Lizard people? Real. The moon landing? Fake. Managing the world’s conspiracies is a full-time job for an awkward genius and her dysfunctional co-workers.” The show stars Lizzy Caplan, Christian Slater, Clark Duke, Tisha Campbell, Andy Daly, Chris Diamantopoulos, Joe DiMaggio, Bobby Lee and Brett Gelman alongside other cast members.
As previously mentioned, this is not the only show Netflix has cancelled lately. Both 1899 and Warrior Nun were cancelled, inciting an almost violent reaction on Twitter. With Inside Job cancelled, there is a similar storm brewing on the social media platform. Many fans have taken to calling out Netflix for its decisions to cancel shows that were doing extremely well with audiences.
