Waiting for Snabba Cash Season 2? Here’s a Recap of Everything That Went Down in Season 1

The premiere of Snabba Cash Season 2 is just days away and we’ve taken it upon ourselves to break down all the happenings of the first season of the Swedish crime drama. The cut-throat race for money in this series was inspired by the Swedish novel trilogy of the same name by Jens Lapidus.

Throughout the six episodes of the first season, the title of the show, which means ‘Easy Money’ in English has been justified well enough. It puts you right in the midst of the action-packed gang violence sequences, thus revealing the compelling thought process that goes behind it all in shaping these characters.

In the initial season that came out in 2021, we met several characters whose fates were ultimately intertwined with each other by the end. Leya (Evin Ahmad), Salim (Alexander Abdallah), Tim (Ali Alarik), and Ravy (Dada Fungula Bozela) are four such characters whose lives were tied in together.

Of these four, Leya is an ambitious aspiring businesswoman who’s trying to make ends meet as a single mother while struggling to kickstart her startup. Salim is the “charming” gang member she meets along the way, whereas Ravy is her brother-in-law and the leader of the same gang as Salim. Tim, on the other hand, is an anxious teenager who gets pulled into this chaos as his strong desire to “man up” drags him down the dark path.

Snabba Cash Season 1 Recap

The show opened with Leya striving to fund her new startup, TargetCoach and it’s only in Tomas Storm (Olle Sari) that she finds a suitable investor after all the ups and downs with Marcus Werner (Peter Eggers). She lives in a small apartment with her only son and has to balance everything on her plate – looking for babysitters, rushing in to find investors for TargetCoach, all while working her shifts at a restaurant to earn her livelihood.

In the meantime, she meets Salim at the restaurant, and the chemistry between the two is undeniable. However, what she doesn’t know yet is that Salim is a member of the same gang as her former husband’s brother. Bitter memories of having lost her husband, Yannick, to the ravages of gang violence and involvement with drug cartels compel Leya to keep her brother-in-law away from her son even though the former wants to build a relationship with the child.

Right at the beginning of the series, one of Salim’s friends is killed as the two go head-to-head with another gang. It changes his outlook towards it all and one can clearly see that he’s having a hard time with everything but keeps suppressing his emotions. Simultaneously, Tim gets caught up with the company of Ravy’s people – Osman and Nala- and is dragged into the warfare as one of their new recruits.

Leya’s business is once again put on hold as Tomas declares that he doesn’t want the likes of Werner to be anywhere near his company. She has no choice but to turn to Ravy in order to buy out Werner from her business. Although it seems like they’re finally reuniting as a family, it only comes to bite Leya in the back later.

Salim advises Tim to find a way out of their drug business and save himself, and while the latter tries his best to confess everything to his father, he can’t actually do the deed. His father is worried about him and knows that something is messing with his boy’s mind. As a result, towards the first half of the season, he starts tracking his whereabouts. This only makes things worse for the teen because he has to get rid of the bag given to him by Osman and Nala for his next big delivery, and ultimately ends up losing it.

Things take a bad turn once the two catch up with Tim and he gets sucked into the mud even further once he gets entangled with Ravy’s shenanigans directly. Conversely, Salim opens up to Ravy about his issues, which the latter reduces to mere “ghetto stress” and tells him to get over it. Salim even seeks the help of a Gang Intervention Program to claw his way out of all the barbarity. In their next meet-up, Ravy reveals that they can both find a way out via Leya’s new business venture, especially since he funded everything.

Leya is once again stuck between warring gangs, but Salim outs Ravy’s plans to her while exposing the secret of his next delivery. She uses this to her advantage and hands all the information to Dani. Despite her intel, she is kidnapped by Dani’s men as collateral and has to witness the two gangs facing off each other, thereby adding to her past trauma.

While Salim manages to save her and she somehow manages to go back to the office, she’s stunned to find out that Tomas knows about the “drug money” that helped her with the startup finances. She gets a call from Salim that they need to take care of the whole Dani situation before it’s too late and Ravy finds out that she’s the whistleblower.

They manage to kill Dani, and through it, Tim is also let into the secret and is cornered yet again. Marko confronts Ravy about the failed delivery and demands he pays up soon. Ravy’s last resort is to go back to Leya for help and ask for a loan of 2 million crowns. However, he doesn’t know yet that she and Salim are together, and later they plan to use this as a means to lure him out and play the upper hand.

The previous gunfight between Ravy and Dani pushes the former’s employees to team up with Ravy’s team and as the new members join them, they unveil that they’ve actually sold a quota of Ravy’s supply before. Pulling out the same bag as was handed to Tim, the young boy is considered the whistleblower and is held at gunpoint, to tell the truth.

Right before this, Leya strikes up a deal with Tomas to save herself from Ravy and she asks him to pay her 10 million crowns as collateral for all the damage Tomas has caused her. However, she’s soon lured by Ravy’s people who hold both her and Tim at gunpoint while Salim finally confesses that he was the actual culprit. Listening to it all, Ravy sees no alternative but to blow Salim’s brains out and forces Tim to take the fall for the murder.

In the end, Leya is once again left all alone, but she now has the money she always wanted. Joining hands with Marko, she pays Ravy’s entire commission in order to get ahead of him. Even Marko praises her strategy and calls out Ravy by stating that anyone can do what he does, but not everyone can rule the game like Leya.

Snabba Cash Season 2 Trailer

Netflix has released the trailer for Snabba Cash Season 2 and it once again puts all the former characters (along with some new ones being introduced to the lot) back into action. Leya can deny all her connections to these murderous roots as much as she wants, but it’s true that she’s now one of them too. Her staying in denial isn’t fooling anyone anymore.

Snabba Cash Season 2 premieres on Netflix on September 22, 2022. Make sure to catch up with the previous season before the new one touches down.
