Koffee With Karan Season 7 Episode 3 features Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar and South Superstar Samantha Prabhu. The synopsis of the episode reads, “What happens when Bollywood’s Khiladi, aka Akshay Kumar, teams up with south megastar Samantha Prabhu? They sizzle on the couch, roast their host and burn up the dance floor!”.

It has a runtime of about 52 minutes and starts off with the host Karan Johar talking about airport fashion. And he quotes that, many celebs get more attention for their airport fashion than all their work combined and you would get to see the best acting at the airport when the celebs give a surprising look to the paparazzi.

While Akshay is introduced as a one-man industry, Samantha is making her first appearance on the infamous talk show. Right off they mention the N-word, which here refers to nepotism and Johar claims to have accepted the tag of its flag bearer. They talk about how both the actors are at the top of their game and most popular in pan India.

The host pulls up the Ormax survey in which Samantha Prabhu ranked number one, beating Alia Bhatt at number two. While Akshay Kumar was the only Bollywood actor on the male list at number 5. Samantha joked about paying the Ormax media for it but Johar, as usual, had to interject with Alia’s name. Is he getting paid to mention her in every episode?

Anyway, he asks Akshay what might be the lacking issue that more Bollywood actors aren’t on the list and he answered that’s because they don’t do multi-starrer films. They further talked about how difficult casting has been for the film jointly produced by Johar & Kumar. Whereas, actresses are happy to work together, giving the example of Mission Mangal.

Coming to the main topic of discussion/gossip for which Johar might have invited Prabhu, was her divorce. He casually asked about her separation from her ex-husband Naga Chaitanya and how she was embroiled in internet trolling after the announcement. Further stating that he won’t be poking much about her personal life (what a lie).

But still keeps on asking questions and prying on the same subject from different angles. However, Akshay and Samantha called him out and gave the show a new title, ‘Koffee with Encroachment Karan’. Then moving on to the actor’s marital life and when counter-questioned, Johar says that he has a very lonely love/sex life.

He even proposes a holiday with Samantha. And coming back to the same topic of nepotism with the brand ambassador of ‘outsider’ star Akshay Kumar. He obviously dodged the question typically, saying he was busy focusing on his work and earnings while Prabhu gave a diplomatic answer of, everyone’s struggle is different.

If anything worth noting comes out of it is how Akshay’s character who had already died in the film Jaani Dushman, came back to life because the lead actor Sunny Deol was stuck abroad. And Akshay also knows how trolls call him ‘Canada Kumar’ on the internet thus, he doesn’t go online much.

There was no bingo game this time and they straight went to rapid-fire round but with a little change-up. Instead of asking one person first, the guests suggested they should go one after another. So one question to Akshay, then second to Samantha. The questions were the same, who would you have a love triangle with or who would host your party?

From the answers, it was clear that both are in awe of the energy powerhouse Ranveer Singh (#Ranveerified). The only funny answer would be when Akshay mistook the word ‘filters’ for ‘fillers’ and answered that Bollywood is obsessed with fillers. Which is a harsh truth actually. Consequently, he won the round with 83% votes but gave his hamper to Samantha.

But in the slam zone, Samantha picked up with her quick responses to questions like what is the middle name of Sir Paul McCartney? Akshay answered correctly as a joke but Karan Johar denied and then the staff had to interrupt to say that, Paul is, in fact, the right answer. Which now you know too. After going through such GK-like questions Samantha won in this round.

Koffee With Karan Season 7 Episode 3: Final Thoughts

I wouldn’t say it was the best episode, but it was good to see Samantha Prabhu on the Koffee couch at least. Not sure if the pairing was right but she would have been better with maybe an actor like Vijay Deverakonda, who is even doing a film with her.

Although, it was funny to see the actors picking on the host and not letting him have his way with the prying questions and dodging them left and right, which Akshay Kumar does best. And the last segment about dancing on Oo Antava song was just not a good addition.
