Koffee With Karan Season 7 Episode 2 guests are the talented actresses Janhvi Kapoor and Sara Ali Khan. The synopsis of the episode reads, “From skinny-dipping to being stranded on a mountain, B-Town BFFs Janhvi Kapoor and Sara Ali Khan lay it all out on the couch with a side-order of ‘cheese’ that no one saw coming.”

Karan Johar starts off the show with his introductory monologue about the fickleness of Bollywood friendships and compared it to changing seasons. There are only a few closed groups that are actually friends and the friendship between the two guests surprises him. So, today on this couch he wants to test if they are really friends or just really good actors.

Both the guests had a very similar career graph as they both debuted in 2018 and also come from a family of actors or simply Bollywood families. And it was their second time on the show as well. Janhvi found her last appearance on the show ‘somberish’ and hopes to do better this time. Moving on to the ‘elephant in the room’, as addressed by Johar.

And it wasn’t about Sara’s weight loss but how they spent their time in the pandemic. I have said it numerous times and will repeat it again, we should stop talking about our time in the quarantine, we all know what went down in that period and it’s just redundant talk now. Anyway, the response to the question clearly showed the intellect and humility of Sara Ali Khan compared to her counterpart.

They further talk about their friendship and their adventurous trip to Kedarnath, where they almost died on a mountain. Also, Janhvi here calls out Sara for booking a cheap hotel with no heater in minus temperature. They also get sidetracked while telling the stories, meanwhile, Sara was interjecting to correct the details.

Compared to the last episode, for the first time, Karan Johar didn’t get to talk much and the guest went on with their wild stories and banter. In between, they also touched on the subject of career shelf life differences between male & female actors. While male actors still play the lead role in their mid-50s, the actress is said to have a peak till mid-30s or a bit more.

The last time Sara was on this show, she called out Kartik Aryan’s name, as someone who she wants to date and it became a reality. This time she was a bit hesitant to say but with a little nudge she spilt out Vijay Devarakonda’s name. It was included in the trailer as well and you will hear his name many more times in reference to some ‘cheese’.

They then moved to Bingo round and talked about the things they have done and we get to know that Janhvi Kapoor might actually have some finsta accounts and one of them has the name ‘bholi si surat’. She blurted it out accidentally and tried to play it off as a joke, but I guess it’s not.

Followed by a rapid-fire round which revealed that Janhvi would like Aditya Roy Kapur to be the stripper at her bachelorette and she definitely stalks Himesh Reshamiya for the meme content. Meanwhile, Sara gave some one-liners and witty answers which led to her win by 72%, voted by the live audience called Koffee enthusiasts.

Similarly in the next slam zone, even though Janhvi was ahead of Sara with her Bollywood GK but in the round to call a friend, she lost. Also, I haven’t heard a better plot of Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham than, ‘a man who can’t tie his shoelaces reveals his identity to his ex-nanny’. Sara was the winner of this round as well with 14 points compared to Janhvi’s 7 points.

Koffee With Karan Season 7 Episode 2: Final Thoughts

This episode was definitely wittier than the last one, courtesy of Sara Ali Khan. Although there seem to be favouritism between the guest as Karan Johar was continuously complimenting Janhvi for her looks and dressing sense, even when she lost. And portrayed Khan’s family as a splited turbulent one, which doesn’t stand true. Divorced parents don’t necessarily mean damaged family ties.

Also, Sara tried to make some self-deprecating jokes about her weight and how much she eats in a day, I mean she must have gone through many such questions in interviews, focusing on her body that she has just internalised it. Overall, it was a fun episode to watch.
