Sintonia Season 3: Does Life Get Easier for Doni, Rita and Nando?

Sintonia has always been a series full of cliched and predictable storylines and dialogues. It represents three essential components of the Brazillian culture at its best- crime, religion and music, yet somewhere becomes a miss-or-hit when it comes to the narrative. Probably taking its cue from the previous seasons, Sintonia Season 3 comes back with a bang.

The second season of Sintonia did give us hope that the third season will be instrumental to our three main characters- Doni, Rita and Nando having a better life and, initially, it seems like they do have it together. Nando, essentially stuck deep in the crime world, tries to be a better person by starting up his own business and welcoming his second daughter with his wife.

Rita, whose life has been redeemed since she found her faith in God also is heading towards a more solid path by becoming a political candidate. And, Doni’s music career is at its peak as he keeps delivering hits one after the other. But, things don’t stay the same way forever, do they? Soon enough, our protagonists are torn in their own lives as the past keeps haunting them and the present refuses to paint the prettiest picture.

Nando’s connection to the crime world keeps interfering in his new, honest life. Rita’s faith starts to fumble as the sees more than God in the church, the business part of it. Her love life being in shreds is no help either. Doni also suffers from the same. The harder he tries to keep his love life intact the more it seems to slip away and the pressure of being famous keeps getting at him.

Three worlds apart, living two realities at once, Doni, Rita and Nando struggle to find that light at the end of a dark tunnel. Sintonia Season 3 gets more real than we have ever seen it be.

Doni, Nando and Rita are definitely not the kids we have known them once to be and, their battles are more mature and real at this particular phase in their lives. The show has always received praises for being honest and charismatic for its portrayal of Brazil, with both the good and the bad side. Along with that, it also incorporates other subplots in regards to interpersonal relationships, dreams & desires and more.

The third season continues down the same, a more polished path. Nando’s storyline in particular is the most interesting one in the trio and, it does keep you guessing at times, where it is headed. In comparison, Doni’s segment fails to impress and with not much acting brilliance delivered by Jottapê, it at times falls flat. However, Christian Malheiros and Bruna Mascarenhas sell their roles to the audience with perfection.

Sintonia Season 3: Final Verdict

Sintonia Season 3 is charming, and enjoyable and gives us one helluva ending that no one saw coming. Putting the characters at crossroads, this season really churned out the best from the actors and put forward a decent enough storyline to rely on.

The show continues to thrive and, yes, there needs to be a Sintonia Season 4 soon!

Released on July 13, 2022, you can watch all the episodes of Sintonia Season 3 now on Netflix.
