Stranger Things: Saddened By Eddie’s Death? Here’s Every Character Whose Death Shocked Us!

Stranger Things recently released its season 4 vol 2 or the remaining two episodes of the season on July 1st on Netflix. But the big finale soon became a sob ending with the death of one of its popular and beloved characters. It isn’t the first time that the creators of the show Duffer Brothers have killed off a major character right after its introduction in the season.

In fact, as of the second volume of the fourth season, more than 816+ characters including main and secondary actors, have been captured dying throughout the show. While fans were already speculating about the deaths of its main characters in the latest season but it’s not what they expected. Therefore, here we have listed all the deaths of the characters that left us heartbroken and in a way influenced the plot of the story.

Stranger Things Season 1

Benny Hammond

Actor Chris Sullivan portrayed the character of Benny Hammond. He was the owner and chef at Benny’s Burgers, a diner in Hawkins, Indiana. But one day after coming across a strange and dishevelled little girl with a shaved head, who tried to steal fries from the kitchen. Benny decided to cater for her, providing her with food and trying to know her family background.

But as Eleven didn’t talk much about herself he decided to get in touch with Social Services, as he believed she might have run off from an abusive family. However, this good deed leads to his death as the secret services reach there and get shot in the head at the hands of DOE agent Connie Frazier. They manipulated the scene to look like a suicide but his friend and Chief of Police Jim Hopper doesn’t believe so.

Barbara Holland or Barb

The character of Barbara Holland is played by Shannon Purser, who was the best friend of Nancy Wheeler. But one day, when they were at Steve’s house, Barb mysteriously vanishes from there. It leads Nancy and Jonathan Byers to investigate her disappearance. Eventually, through Jonathan’s photographs, it was revealed that she had been killed by the Demogorgon.

Throughout the four seasons of the show, Nancy seems to regret and blame herself for leaving Barb alone and only in 1984, following the acknowledgement of Hawkins Lab’s involvement in her death and other activities, she was given a proper funeral.

Stranger Things Season 2

Bob Newby

Bob Newby is played by Sean Astin and was a main character in the second season. Introduced as the boyfriend of Joyce Byers, he worked as the manager at the town’s local Radio Shack. He had even proposed to Joyce and was planning to move out of Hawkins to start somewhere new. However, his plan was delayed when Will, began having memory issues and seizures, related to a tunnel slowly growing in Hawkins.

While tending to Will at the Hawkins National Laboratory, strange alien dog-like creatures from the tunnel began attacking the lab, trapping the Byers and others inside. Using his computer skills to turn off the security system, Bob helped Joyce and the others escape, but was unfortunately mauled to death in front of her by a Demogorgon.

Stranger Things Season 3

Alexei

The character of Dr Alexei is played by Alec Utgoff, a Russian scientist who was forced into working on the Key beneath the Starcourt Mall. After Alexei’s supervisor failed to get the key to work properly, despite claiming how close he was to finishing but was executed by Grigori, a Russian Hitman. Therefore, making Alexei led the operation with fellow scientists to have the Key work properly.

He was arrested by Jim Hopper and Joyce and taken to Murray Bauman as only he knew how to communicate in Russian. After he explained the Russians’ plan to open the portal, the trio left for Hawkins to find the kids but at the Fun Fair Alexei was killed by Grigori after he attempted to defect to the United States and was briefly left unattended by Murray. He was a child-like character who was liked by everyone for his cunning yet innocent side.

Billy Hargrove

Played by Dacre Montgomery, Billy was the main character and central antagonist in the third season. He was the older step-brother of Max Mayfield, who he often mistreated, as a result of years of abuse. Eventually, he became under the possession of The Mind Flayer, using him as a vessel and a tool to create an army of physical vessels to host. He didn’t transform into the monster but acted as the Human avatar for him with super strength

While attempting to save him, Eleven was able to reach his humanity and even, in the end, Billy physically tried to hold back the Monster but got killed as he got stabbed in the chest. In his final words, he apologized to his stepsister. His death was covered up by the government, as part of the Starcourt Mall’s fire. His death left a great impact on Max as we could see in the following season.

Stranger Things Season 4

Chrissy Cunningham

Played by Grace Van Dien, the character of Chrissy was first introduced in the fourth season. She was the head cheerleader and most popular girl at Hawkins High School. She was called Queen of Hawkins High by Eddie Munson, but recently she has been having some visions, while not feeling well and would hear her mother’s taunting voice in her head.

She reaches out to Eddie as she feels like losing her mind and thinks that maybe drugs could help her. But as she goes out to meet Eddie, she encounters Vecna’s clock in the woods and later when they were at his trailer, she falls into Vecna’s spell and dies right there. Her death comes out as shocking news to the Hawkins community, making Eddie a suspect which leads her boyfriend Jason to lead a scavenger hunt looking for Eddie and everyone in the Hellfire group.

Eddie Munson

The character of Eddie Munson is played by Joseph Quinn. He was one of the main characters in seasons 4 vol 1 & 2. The leader of the Hellfire Club, the official D&D club of Hawkins High School, and an electric guitar player in his band Corroded Coffin. Ever since he became the suspect in Chrissy’s death, he had to run and hide in odd places to save himself.

Helped by Dustin, Steve, Robin and others he was able to hide from Jason and his team, who were out to kill him. But in the last episode, while trying to save Dustin and preventing the upside-down creatures to go into the real world. He tries to lure them away from the trailer but in the end, he dies from their attack as he exclaims that he didn’t run away this time.
