The Greatest Demon Lord Is Reborn as a Typical Nobody, or Shijou Saikyou no Daimaou Murabito A ni Tensei suru in Japanese is an action and fantasy anime belonging to the overpowered demon king trying to fulfil his goal after being reincarnated as a human. It is based on a light novel written by Myoujin Katou and illustrated by Sao Mizunou. This episode of the show is also referred to as Shijou Saikyou no Daimaou Murabito A ni Tensei suru Episode 9.
The anime adaptation is developed by Studio Silver Link, an outfit that has produced many other anime such as The Great Jahy Will Not Be Defeated, Our Last Crusade or the Rise of a New World, and The Misfit of Demon King Academy. The show is directed by Mirai Minato, the director behind several shows like Bofuri: I Don’t Want to Get Hurt, So I’ll Max Out My Defense, Circlet Princess, and Our Last Crusade or the Rise of a New World.

The previous episode of Shijou Saikyou no Daimaou Murabito A ni Tensei suru was too rushed, leaving us with a multitude of questions. First, and most importantly, who is the masked villain? He did not seem to die, more like his body double vanished. What is his vendetta against Ard? And how is he aware of so many secrets? Ard seemed to have killed Lydia in the past. What could be the reason? Is it related to his reincarnation?

Keeping in mind these unanswered questions, The Greatest Demon Lord Is Reborn as a Typical Nobody Episode 9 leads us no further. But it surprisingly branches off towards a new plot development. Everyone is on-route for the school trip when suddenly an entity appears, transporting them to an unknown location. I must admit, even though the general animation throughout the entire show is mediocre, even at best, some moments shine through. Like when Ginny or Ireena is in focus, trying to seduce Ard. Or the playing cards of the old legendary characters.
Shijou Saikyou no Daimaou Murabito A ni Tensei suru Episode 9 does not necessarily connect to the plot yet, but we get to meet Olivia, Lydia, and some other characters from the past. Seeing previously how Lydia interacted in a flashback, this episode is a big shock in terms of her personality. Her beautiful elf character is miles away from some of her actions. Her interaction with Ard reminds us of her death once again. Who exactly is she to Ard? A lover, a friend, or a family?
The dialogue is too sloppy in this episode of The Greatest Demon Lord Is Reborn as a Typical Nobody. When the plot does not make sense or lacks a foundation, the characters conveniently and haphazardly explain away their actions. The character design for newer members is also generic, both design-wise and personality-wise. The fight scene was a bit better than all the previous fights, though the animation was still very rigid.

The Greatest Demon Lord Is Reborn as a Typical Nobody Episode 9 seems to be on the path to unveiling Ard’s past. Ireena’s and Ginny’s general lack of awareness about the mysterious knowledge and power held by Ard is frustrating, but at least we, the viewers, can finally dig deep and get some answers. This school trip arc seems to be going much better than the school festival arc, even if that’s not saying much. Disappointedly, the most hyped-up moment in the anime continues to be the opening theme song.
Prognosis
The Greatest Demon Lord Is Reborn as a Typical Nobody Episode 9 seems to be grabbing at straws with its new plot and characters. With neither standing out, this episode was a letdown.
