The cat’s out of the bag, and we are privy to one of the biggest plot twists in anime history. Attack On Titan Season 4 Part 2 Episode 6 has to follow perhaps the biggest event in the show so far. Was it successful in doing so? Let’s find out in this review!

Attack On Titan Season 4 Part 2 Episode 6 Overview

Attack On Titan Season 4 Episode 22 , Attack on Titan Episode 81

What more is there left to be said about Attack On Titan? Even if you only consider yourself a casual anime fan, this show is probably one that you know about and watch avidly. It is an action and supernatural show based on the works of Hajime Isayama. It is known as Shingeki no Kyojin in original Japanese, and thus this half of the season is also called Shingeki no Kyojin Season 4 Part 2. You can also call it Attack on Titan Final Season Part 2 or Shingeki no Kyojin Final Season Part 2 if you’d like.

This season is being animated by Studio MAPPA, a powerhouse studio behind several immensely popular anime properties, including Jujutsu Kaisen and the future Chainsaw Man. This season is directed by Yuiichirou Hayashi, with Jun Shishido serving as the chief director of the show. The duo was also in charge of Part 1 of the final season, alongside several other acclaimed anime such as Kakegurui and Hajime no Ippo. You can find our review of the previous Episode right here.

Attack on Titan The Final Season Part 2 Episode 6 Review- Breaking Down The Barrier

It is astounding to see just how much Attack on Titan has changed since it first began. From the tone of the show to what we know about its universe, almost nothing right now resembles what the show used to be. That can only be a good thing, right? Evolution is a good thing, and you risk your product becoming stale if you don’t evolve. However, it does lead to the older show looking ancient and barely recognisable compared to what we are witnessing right now. Thus, when the past comes back to haunt the present in Attack on Titan, it can be a jolting experience.

In various manners, this latest episode was a direct callback and tribute to this show’s illustrious and consequential past while still dealing with the previous episode’s events that threatened the destruction of the entire world. We spent the best part of two episodes inside the coordinate, learning about Eren and Ymir’s powers and what the overall plan for the titans from the beginning was. However, we spent so much time in there that we ignored the entire world outside, which Eren was fighting to save all along.

Characters who used to be major parts of the show before it ventured into the highly ineffective Marley vs Eldia narrative, like Mikasa, Armin, Jean, and Connie, finally got their chances to shine again in Attack on Titan Final Season Part 2 Episode 6 (Or Shingeki No Kyojin Final Season Part 2 Episode 6). This development comes highly anticipated as these characters are heavy fan favourites who are yet to receive their proper due in the final season.

We got to witness the manoeuvre gears in action again for what may be one of the final times in one glorious action scene that harkened back to the show’s origins. While we may have come far from the days of struggling to kill a single titan, it was still nice to see the group back in action. Not just that, but the show also addressed some of the paused plot points from Season 2 and before, which makes you appreciate how long everything going on has been planned for.

This was a fantastic episode of the show, and if we’re still doing the Attack on Titan vs Demon Slayer sweepstakes, Attack on Titan wins this week handily. The animation was tremendous, as always, and it makes one worried about the health of those working at Studio Mappa. There’s a picture going around of Attack on Titan director Yuiichirou Hayashi, and by the looks of it, the man is in dire need of a nap or a hundred. The soundtrack was also magnificent, especially the insert song, which many people will be seeking out online. How the hell are they able to maintain this level of quality?

Verdict

Attack On Titan Season 4 Part 2 Episode 6 was a phenomenal blast from the past and showcased the show’s former glory while still moving towards the uber exciting future.
