Father There is Only One to Dear Zindagi, Feel Good Movies to Enjoy This Christmas Weekend

It’s Christmas weekend, and everyone just wants to chill. The last 2 years have been tough for everyone, and we’re still in the pandemic. While some have plans, some just want to sneak in their comfy blanket. If you are one of those who just want to sit home and enjoy some feel good movies, you’ve come to the right place.

In this article, we will suggest some heartwarming, lovely and sweet movies that are high on emotions, drama, Love and laughter. Some movies make you cry and smile at the end, and some just make you feel joyous. The list isn’t limited to Christmas movies and has options that are non-English too. The list includes some of my favourite films, which some might find lame. But I hope those who haven’t watched any, enjoy it.

Some feel good movies to enjoy this Christmas Weekend:

Inside Out

In these 2 years, every person is going through many emotions. There’s anger, sadness, happiness, fear and many such emotions. Not everyone can talk to someone about how they feel. In Disney-Pixar’s Inside Out, Riley goes through various emotions due to sudden changes in her life. She is quite young and doesn’t know how to handle herself. That’s when her emotions work together to bring her true self back.

Inside Out will make you laugh, cry and smile at the end. Directed by Pete Docter, the voice cast includes Amy Poehler, Phyllis Smith, Richard Kind, Bill Hader, Lewis Black, Mindy Kaling, Kaitlyn Dias, Diane Lane, and Kyle MacLachlan.

Tall Girl

Tall Girl is a Netflix rom-com that is quite different from the typical rom coms. It’s a story about a tall girl named Jodi (Ava Michelle) and her struggle to find true love. Her amazingly tall height intimidates some people, and others bully her. Jodi has to realise that the love she’s looking for has always been with and within her. The film shows that nobody is perfect and no matter the appearances, what matters is how good/bad you are inside.

Dear Zindagi

Heartbreaks are a part of life. People lose themselves by giving their everything in friendships, love, family or jobs. Some people slip into self-doubt and depression due to constant negative experiences. In Dear Zindagi, our protagonist Kiara (Alia Bhatt) also goes through tough pain. She decides to help herself and seek therapy from Dr Jug (Shah Rukh Khan).

Every time Dr Jug listens to Kiara and helps her understand her emotions, I feel like I also need to hear those words. Directed by Gauri Shinde, the Hindi film is intense, emotional, funny and full of love.

Love, Guaranteed

The 2020 Netflix film is a romantic comedy in modern dating times. Starring Rachael Leigh Cook and Damon Wayans Jr, the story is too good to be real. Nothing goes wrong in the film with anyone, and there’s a solution to everything. I know life cannot be so good and perfect. But sometimes, we want to believe the lies we see in films. We want to believe that happiness and love are guaranteed in life without having to struggle for it.

Bangalore Days

The Malayalam comedy stars Nazriya Nazim, Nivin Pauly, Dulquer Salmaan, Fahadh Faasil, Parvathy Thiruvothu, Isha Talwar, Nithya Menen and Paris Laxmi. The story is about 3 cousins who end up residing in the same city – Bangalore. The film shows their struggle and how the cousins help each other. Bangalore Days shows your strong familial bonds are, how marriages aren’t supposed to be and what love truly is. Enjoy some good performances and great music by Gopi Sunder.

Meri Pyaari Bindu

In a cinematic world full of love stories, there’s hardly a good story about incomplete love stories. I know there are tragic ones where characters either kill each other or get killed by someone else. But what about a story where the characters are in love, but the timing isn’t just right? In Meri Pyaari Bindu, Abhimanyu (Ayushmann Khurrana) and Bindu (Parineeti Chopra) are good friends who fall in love too. But things don’t work out, and they part ways.

The separation doesn’t turn their equation bitter at all. They still respect and love each other and accept that they may not be together as lovers. To understand this better, it’s better to watch the film. The film also has mesmerising songs that will instantly make a place in your playlist.

Father There Is Only One

Father There Is Only One, aka Padre no hay más que uno, is a Spanish comedy-drama. Directed by Santiago Segura, the film stars him along with Toni Acosta, Wendy Ramos, Martina D’Antiochia, Calma Segura, Luna Fulgencio, Carlos González Morollón and Sirena Segura. It shows a father’s struggle who has to handle his 5 kids when his wife takes a break from motherly duties.

There is not a single moment where you feel bored. It’s a perfect Christmas film without having anything about Christmas.

Well, these are some feel good movies that make me smile and have become my comfort buddies. Which one are you planning to watch? Do you have any suggestions too? Do let us know in the comments section below.
