“Wholesome” is an overused word in our times. It is used to describe various scripted interactions that we see online or in attempts to justify the vile state our world is in. You aren’t very far away from seeing this word if you’re anywhere online, usually in a context that doesn’t justify its usage. Hence, when you find an occasion to use the word in its proper context, an occasion that truly justifies its existence, you can’t help but celebrate.

The Great Jahy Will Not Be Defeated Episode 12 was the occasion I’m speaking of here, as if “warm fuzzies” were to have a definition in the dictionary, this particular episode will have been mentioned among its examples. It had everything that made people squirm in their seats due to the sheer cuteness. Dogs? Check. Cats? Check. Kids? Check. Humans being kind to each other? Check.

Most of it was due to the literal reincarnation of a ball of sunlight, Kokoro, and Saurva finally getting her much-awaited transformation into a dog that was hinted at from the first opening of the series. Jahy had her moments with both of them, as she arranged a play date with Kokoro and then met Saurva the Dog on her way back from there. It is moments like these when you wonder how this kind-hearted doofus ever came to be the #2 of the dark realm. Maybe the Dark Lord is a bigger goof than she is?

Jahy was struggling because she wanted to be friends with and appreciate a mere human, which caused her to reflect on the type of person she is and wants to be. Jahy has shown time and time again that she has a heart of gold, which stood out even more in The Great Jahy Will Not Be Defeated Episode 12. Her antics are always entertaining and fun to watch, whether she is up to any good or not.

The show does operate on a “do good and good will come to you.” theory, which means that whenever anyone, but especially Jahy, performs an action that can be deemed noble, good happens to her. It was a little different in The Great Jahy Will Not Be Defeated Episode 12, as she received her reward first and then went on to do good things. The formula remained the same, still. Nothing comes easy to Jahy, so when it does, it comes off as a surprise.

The music and animation department had an easy week, as the episode didn’t feature anything special in those departments. The show looks and sounds fine, and there wasn’t much to talk about. I wouldn’t say I like the new opening theme, however. It sounds too messy and unrefined when compared to the much superior first opening.

Verdict

The Great Jahy Will Not Be Defeated Episode 12 was a sweet and wholesome experience, and I highly recommend watching this if you’re feeling down.
