Pioneer has now confirmed Android Support for ver 4.0 of their rekordbox mobile app. This comes about 6 weeks after the initial announcement for iOS users.
Most notably, the app is compatible with the DDJ-FLX4 (Pioneer’s flagship DJ controller for beginners), where users can connect their phones via Bluetooth or a USB cable.
Additionally, you can link the app to streaming services such as SoundCloud and TIDAL (subscriptions required) to directly browse catalogues and mix tracks straight from your playlists.
Version 4.0 is also compatible with Pioneer’s pro DJ gear (CDJ-3000s), plus their popular all-in-one DJ systems – the XDJ-RX3 and XDJ-XZ – enabling the hardware to play tracks saved in the app.
Whilst you can download the 4.0 update for free, you’ll likely want to upgrade for anything other than basic functionality. Visit the rekordbox website for more details + download links.
