How to Celebrate Spring with Your Photography

How to Celebrate Spring with Your Photography

It’s been a long winter, but Spring is finally here. The temperatures are rising, and sprouts are starting to shoot out of the ground announcing the coming of a season we all look forward to. As a photographer, you can’t miss out on doing a few shoots that celebrate the lovely weather. Here are some ideas that will inspire you to capture terrific photos.

Pick a Prop and Take it For a Walk

Take a prop with you such as a small toy, a tiny house, or a little stuffed animal. Then place it in different settings. For example, you can perch it on a tree or set it amid the flowers. This is a fun way to say hello to the season.

Explore Flowers

It goes without saying that you’ll want to take plenty of pictures of flowers during a spring shoot. But you can take the theme outside the box by cutting flowers and placing them in unique settings. You can put them in boxes, put them on your bookcases, set them in vases and more.

Use Spring Sayings in Your Theme

It’s great if your picture tells a story and expressing spring sayings is the ideal way to do that. Some examples include, ‘April showers bring May flowers or ‘Spring is in the air’. You can get creative with how you use your images to bring the words to life.

Take Pictures in the Rain

Rain doesn’t have to cancel a spring shoot. In fact, the water provides many opportunities for unique photo taking. You can take pictures of the reflections in the water, or you can photo-document a storm as it’s happening. Just remember to protect your equipment!

Go Macro

Macro is a photography technique that works particularly well in nature. For example, insects and flowers are both great macro themes. Once the weather gets warmer, you can go out in nature and capture what’s available.

Incorporate Themes of Growth

Springtime is all about growth and rejuvenation. You can capitalize on this by taking pictures of a plant rising out of the ground. You can also continue a themed project that follows the changes in nature through the seasons.

Combine Flowers and Food

Flowers and food make a surprisingly gorgeous aesthetic. And with flowers being so abundant in spring, now is the time to create your look. Take what you’ve got to the next level by using food that is currently in seasons like spring fruits and salads.

Combine Florals and Letters

Spring is a great time to send a message of hope like ‘Dream Big’ or ‘Flowers in Bloom’. Create the letters yourself out of chalk or marker or find a fun sign in a store. Then add spring-like elements such as flowers, toys bees and more. This will make an inspirational image for the new season.

Spring is here. A photography shoot is a great way to celebrate the season. The tips in this article will help you make the most of the rejuvenation inspiring you and those around you. Which will you be integrating into your next projects?
