Allows to bypass kernel mixer and use the “Playback Bypass” windows feature for mp3s and other filetypes.
Allows to output all audio to any audio device (e.g. foobar2000 does not have its own line-in/out device).
How to use:

– Drag the.DLL file (32-bit only) to your foobar2000’s plugins folder (same place where you have Plugins.dll, if necessary).
– Open foobar2000’s preferences and “Sound” menu
– Uncheck “Volume Mixing” (make sure the settings are “strict” when enabled). Click OK and restart foobar2000.

It is possible to activate the plugin manually by adding -plug:foooutks to foobar2000’s command line (foobar2000 -config > foooutks.xml) to start foobar2000 with a special ini config file.

How to make configuration file:

Right-click an audio file on the file explorer and choose “Plug-in settings”. This menu item will present a wizard that allows you to configure the plugin. There you should specify foobar2000’s audio device (0x0401) to which you want to send all audio output. It is possible to use subdevices in the audio route (Device ID – Device Name):

AUDIOCARD (0x0401)
Description:

For example “Audiocard 0x0401”.
Default name: “Audiocard 0x0401”.

I wanted to share my experience developing a patched version of FsCompress.
It is a free, open source audio compressor that is available on SourceForge. The original author, Jonathan Rochkind is
responsible for the plugin, which is a modified version of the CMI plugin.
This is my second contribution to this community. When I was still an active member of foobar2000, I did a patch for foobar to use the
CMI plugin. This was a pretty big project for me (I found out that the process of integrating that plugin with foobar is not easy), so I never did it.
I decided to improve it and release a new version.
I did not have the time to write a full explanation of the modifications and a proper README, so I would like to apologize in advance for it. I will try to
make a workaround for that, but for the time being I think that explaining the modifications is still more important than making it look pretty.
I just wanted to say that I have released version 1.4.1 which is pretty stable and pretty optimized. I would appreciate any feedback from the community and any bug
reports. I hope to be able to make more improvements in future.

foo out ks plugins the playback, so if you want to bypass the Windows Kernel Mixer your media player of choice would need to be a so-called KSD compatible media player. The plugin does so by processing the PCM audio stream in real-time and therefor bypassing Windows kernel mixer.
A typical scenario would be the following one:
– Foobar2000 configured to use the foo out ks output plug-in
– Windows Media Player configured to use foo out ks as the output plug-in
– foo out ks is active and the Windows Media Player attempts to play an unknown stream
– foo out ks notifies its real media player about the incoming stream so it processes it in real-time and directly in the output plug-in
– Windows Media Player is bypassed because foo out ks did its job
Some limitations of this component are:
– audio samples do not handle input streams larger than 1.2 GB
– foo out ks only looks for streams encoded in one of the following formats: AC3, DTS, eSAC, MP3, MPA, MP2, PCM, SNC and WASAPI
– foo out ks does not actually work for session modes other than direct passthrough
