With the release of Green Edition 4, rapper S.T.A.T.E, as in Smart Talking Asshole Tendences Equals State, certainly lives up to his name.. It starts with a short intro vocal-only track of S.T.A.T.E. rapping about the current state of the pandemic world and abysmal government leadership. The closing track ‘Final Warning’ begins with an air raid alarm and closes out the album with a distinct air of defiance. Between these two songs is a treasure trove of slick beats, impeccable flow and lyrical takedowns by the frank and outspoken artist. Not one to follow rules, tracks largely eschew the typical verse-chorus structure and are instead free-flowing and largely vocal-driven. The result is a refreshingly honest, sonically sound album start-to-finish.
