Recruitment exam: Four fake candidates arrested at NIT

Rourkela: Four persons were on Sunday apprehended for illicitly participating in a recruitment exam that took place yesterday at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) in Rourkela, Sundargarh district.

The exam was held to fill positions for assistant registrar and junior assistant. The arrested individuals, namely Gourav Chauhan, Puneet Singh, Manish Kumar, and Sunil Kumar, are from Hisar and Jind districts of Haryana, as confirmed by a senior police official.

According to the police source, the four accused youths had succeeded in entering the exam hall by producing Fake Admit Cards. However, they were suspected by the invigilator during verification.

Acting on an FIR lodged by the NIT authorities, a team of policemen from Sector-3 station reached the educational institution and launched a probe. During the investigation, it was ascertained that the accused youths possessed fake Admit Cards.

Police have seized mobile phones, Bluetooth devices, and fabricated Admit Cards from their possession.

“The arrested will be forwarded to court later in the day. A detailed probe into the case is underway,” Sector-3 PS IIC Pushpanjali Ningi said.
