AIIMS-Bhubaneswar to close OPD; launching app for patient care

Bhubaneswar: AIIMS-Bhubaneswar has decided to launch a mobile app namely ‘AIIMS Bhubaneswar Swasthya’ for patients as it will close the Out Patient Department (OPD) service in view of staff shortage.

Director Gitanjali Batmanabane on Thursday informed that the OPD service will remain closed from July 10 until further orders.

“We have taken this decision to close walk-in OPD as many of the patients as well as some of our staff have tested positive for COVID-19,” said the AIIMS director.

Apart from this, some employees are coming from containment zones.

She said this has led to staff shortage in the health care institution.

Batambane said that patients will be able to contact their doctors through telemedicine service.

Besides, it will be launching its own application called ‘AIIMS Bhubaneswar Swasthya App’ on Friday for consultation.
