In a major boost to the state’s efforts of drawing in investments, The US giant Microsoft has agreed to bring its campus with a capacity of 4,000 employees in Greater Noida, the Uttar Pradesh government announced on Monday.

The virtual agreement by Microsoft India MD Rajiv Kumar took place in a discussion with the state’s MSME minister Sidharth Nath Singh and will be soon be followed by a site visit conducted by Microsoft. The state will roll out the “red carpet” facility to Microsoft to make it easier for the company to do business, Singh said.
The government has decided earlier and said that the investors are willing to acquire a land withing 1 Km distance on each side of the state’s expressways.
“The company has said that they want to move their North India campus to Greater Noida. The next step will be a site inspection by the team both in Greater Noida and along the Yamuna Expressway followed by their proposal which the state government will examine,” Singh told ET, however, the size and the scale of the investment are not planned yet.
Microsoft the software giant of the US has currently its two campuses in India – one capacity of approx 5,000 and the other with 2,000- and its located in Hyderabad and Bengaluru respectively.

UP on the other hand plans to develop an electronics manufacturing park near the Jewar International Airport along the Yamuna Expressway that connects Greater Noida with Agra and companies planning to start manufacturing will be entitled to subsidies and incentives by the state, over and above what the center offers. Other companies like Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), WiproNSE 0.41 % and Haier are also in various levels of discussions with the state government of bringing in investment in the Noida/Greater Noida regions.
