It’s been since before the pandemic that I saw Pat live. I think the last was Wauktoberfest when we still lived in Wauanakee. Thereafter, we subsided on Pat’s live Facebook shows. Those were a great boon in a time of not-fun worry. Sitting on the couch on a Friday night watching Pat play in his living room, and then in his garage. They helped.

Well. Pandemic is over and I’ve been to live shows since, so when Cindy spotted the show (free I might add) at a bar just over the border in Iowa, we were all in.

The bar, Gary Dolphin’s Iron Bar, was cool from the get go. The building is very updated and there were little sections all over the place with an open air plaza with a huge tv in the middle. The size of the area Pat was to play in was about 10 tables and a bar. Small. Intimate.

Pipe Jim was there setting up and we chose a close table and settled in.

There were little flyers at the table.

and there was a flyer on the wall that I grabbed when the show was almost over.

Comedy / Music / Mayhem is an apt description of a Pat Mccurdy show. Every time I see him I love the new music and the old music and favorites. It’s all good all the time. Get yourself out to a show if you ever can.

Pat came on and I tried to get some pictures, but sorry to say the lighting in there was not very conducive. I did get a couple.

James Brown may be called the hardest working man in show business, but Pat comes a close second. You always leave with a smile on your face and singing on your way home.

He did some all time favorites… “Monkey Paw” (with variations) and “Drive In Reverse” and “I’ll Be Good To You” and he did some vamping with audience memebers (including Cindy) and wrote a Song for J.J. from Highland.

There was lots of singing along, spontaneous dancing and songs clips made up on the spot.

I recorded the show audio on my phone when I REMEMBERED to start it, and so missed the first few songs, but listening back to it this morning it sounds pretty good and I got Cindy laughing and wooing, me yelling and shouting lyrics and the song for J.J. Classic memory reel.

I bought a shirt since my “Monkey Paw” shirt is starting to fade (purchased at the Wauktoberfest show and worn proudly since. Here is the new one.

During the show I posted a picture to Instagram and the next day I was stoked to see that Pat had liked it! That was awesome. Sorry it wasn’t the best picture Pat.
