Chiefs play very Vital role in the development of every community and due to that the high office of the chief is highly reveren among every community.
However, the people of Abuokrom in the Jaman South Municipality in the Bono Region have chased their king away from his stool for gross insubordination and disregard for traditional rules and regulations.
In an interview with the Queen mother of the Abuo Royal Family in the person of Nana Abenaa Konamah l disclosed that, on the 7th of June, 2022 , the Abuo Royal family held a meeting at Drobo and came out with about nine charges against the king.
According to the report, the charges includes; the chief in the person of Nana Seidu Gyabaa gave customary lands to sand miners without proper account.
Instead of him rendering account, he told the council of elders that thieves had broke into his room and stole the money.
The Queen mother also disclosed that, Nana Seidu Gyabaa had also given customary lands to some individuals under the land tenure system ‘Abunu’ and pocketed the proceeds.
Additionally, Odikro Nana Seidu Gyabaa single handedly sold some plot of lands without accounting to his subjects. The chief also engaged chainsaw operators to fell all timber in the town without accounting to his subjects and other charges which they as council of elders considered gross disrespect to customary law and traditional values.
She therefore opined that due to that the council of elders of Abuokrom Royal family performed the necessary rites on Saturday 6th August ,2022 to destoooled Nana Seidu Gyabaa and henceforth he is no longer regarded as the Odikro of Abuokrom Royal family.
In an interview with Ahmed kwame Boadum, the Abusuapayin of Abuo Royal family, Opayin Asoma aslo gave a historical background to the throne of Abuokrom and disclosed that when the odikro was installed all his actions contravened traditional rules and all efforts to get him to round table discussions proved futile.
