What is 22K in free dish?

For example, when you input TP 11090 the receiver switches 22k to off to use 09750 LNB Frequency, and when you input 12688 (Dish TV Home Frequency) STB knows it sends the 22k tone for use of 10600 LNB frequency.

But if you are using a local/old traditional MPEG-2 Box, then you have to enable 22K tone manually to switch your LNB to work for 10600 Local Oscillators.

Modern receivers come with a "universal" LNB setting, SO the STB automatically turns 22k tone on and off, depending on the frequency you input, No need for selecting a 22k on or off in those. for information about the 22KHZ switch, you can check here.
