Time: 168 Minutes

Users Ratings:

The author’s son Vijayendra (Prakash Raj) continues to recount the famous Rocky’s ( Yash) story to a news channel editor from the point at which it ended at the beginning of the chapter. In the Film, we learn that Rocky who was bhai is now transformed into a bhagwan, or ‘bhai’, for those in his vicinity. Since he’s killed Garuda and his army, it’s Adheera (Sanjay Dutt) and his army that comes back to hunt down and kill Rocky.

Adheera isn’t just the one obstacle for Rocky to conquer, however, Rocky is now in the sights of India’s prime minister Ramika Sen (Raveena Tandon). As Rocky manages to avoid Adheera but it’s the Government that stands to block his path to becoming the CEO of India’ (in his own words). With this three-way battle will there be only one winner? So, place some cotton inside your ears and enjoy the game!

KGF: Chapter 2 Movie Review: Script Analysis

Prashanth Neel’s “ambition” overrides his storytelling ability, which is the most problematic aspect of his script. The visuals are stunning but the entire argument for the idea of making things cool is weak. The story has the same problems as chapter 1, for instance, what is the reason everyone is all the time? I was trying to keep a record of the length of time a scene was silent, but the noise was so intense that I was unable to concentrate.

For clarity I’m not a fan of loud movies, I’ve loved films like Master, Rowdy Rathore, Dabangg, and others such films. This one, however, isn’t only able to make your mind in a state of numbness, it also does the same thing to your ears, too.

Sidebar The scene is censored by the word “democracy,” changing it to ‘demography’ and I was left wondering about the irony in the democracy-based society we live in.

Bhuvan Gowda’s cameras elevate already spectacularly mounted action sequences to an unimaginable level by filmmaking in the Indian cinema industry. The car chase scene with play and pause transitions is the most memorable part of the film thanks to the stunning cinematography as well as an excellently synchronized background score composed created by Ravi Basrur.

But the same Cinematography class does not fit with the overall feel of the film, as it is rushed from one scene to another during Yash and Sanjay’s fight scenes because the story of the film is not sufficiently clear to be understood.

KGF: Chapter 2 Movie Review: Star Performance

Chapter 1 proved the reason why there is nobody else but Yash to have the charisma of Rocky with such precision and swag. Chapter 2 only reinforces the same concept further by transforming the character from ‘bhai’ into ‘bhagwan’. The makers make sure to keep Rocky Bhai at the top of the list, with his impressive presence in every scene. When he speaks his written dialogues, you can’t help from listening to his voice (even if it doesn’t appeal to you).

Srinidhi Shetty isn’t given enough in the way of contributing to the narrative and she also gets an instrumental (Mehbooba) which bogs down the second half with no convincing explanation. Sanjay Dutt was expected to be able to recreate Kancha Cheena’s character from Agneepath however, because of the story’s narrow treatment, he isn’t given one chance (apart from his intro sequence) to feel any interest.

Raveena Tandon’s PM is a one-dimensional character throughout the film and does not have any significant impact. Prakash Raj is reduced to just a narrator and adds nothing other than his voice.

KGF: Chapter 2 Movie Review: Direction, Music

Prashanth Neel, like all directors working with the ‘worshipped by fan’ star, gives into the fan service, losing focus on what should have been an honest and earthy approach to the story. The film is a celebration of Yash at least once however, in every scene the film is a part of him the film, but Prashanth is unable to come up with an equally compelling reason to celebrate him the majority of the time.

Ravi Basrur’s background score is across a wide spectrum, from excessively loud to overly trippy. Like everything else that’s been said, the BGM in the film is a tad over-the-top supporting a handful of scenes and adding to the burden of others. The majority of songs are going to stay in my playlist following the film, but the issue is that they’re not even context-specific.

KGF Chapter 2: Movie Review”The Last Word

In the end, the film flits from the ‘larger than life’ to ‘greater than God’ treatment and offers Yash fans yet another reason to be proud of his heroic actions. However, beneath the screaming and raucous BGM, the most important aspect is buried, and never is it given a chance to shine with a captivating story.

2 and one-half stars!
