Netflix April 2023 releases: Beef, Indian Matchmaking Season 3, Tooth Pari When Love Bites, and more

Netflix has two Indian Originals in store for us in April – Tooth Pari: When Love Bites and Indian Matchmaking season 3. The first is a romantic horror series set in Kolkata, which sees a rebellious vampire with a broken tooth fall in love with a shy dentist during one of his appointments. The series stars Tanya Maniktala (Flames) and Shantanu Maheshwari (Gangubai Kathiawadi) as the protagonists and premieres April 20 on Netflix. A day later, Sima Taparia returns for a third season of Indian Matchmaking, the unscripted docuseries that sees her match up South Asian singles in India and overseas. It returns with eight new episodes on April 21.

Globally, we have Steven Yeun (Minari) and Ali Wong (Birds of prey) Beef, a comedy-drama series, in which a road rage incident creeps into their minds and sparks a long-running feud between the two. Created by Lee Sun Jin (David), the A24 series focuses on how easily humans project their personal problems onto another nameless and faceless person as an excuse for everything. All 10 episodes of Beef premiere April 6 on Netflix.

Chase it with Hunger, a Thai film that sees a street cook (Chutimon Chuengcharoensukying) push her limits, after accepting an invitation to join the food industry under the guidance of a ruthless chef. That’s what you’d get if you were to mix the stressful conditions of Gordon Ramsay’s Hell’s Kitchen with the visual brutality of FX. the bear, all compiled in 130 minutes of execution. Hunger is out April 8.

Obsession is a new erotic limited series that traces the love affair of a respected London surgeon with his son’s fiancée, which soon turns into a craze, creating cracks in their daily lives. It is released on April 13 on the platform.

Then there’s Queenmaker, a South Korean series where an adept fixer (Kim Hee-ae) gets into politics and uses her skills to propel a civil rights lawyer (Moon So-ri) to the post of next mayor, and in the process, bring down his former employer. Queenmaker will be available to stream on April 14. After that there’s Phenomena, a 1990s Spanish horror that follows three middle-aged paranormal investigators – Sagrario (Belén Rueda), Paz (Gracia Olayo) Gloria (Toni Acosta) – on a new case when their leader, the father Pilón, randomly disappears. Phenomena premieres April 14 on Netflix.

Picking up just after the events of The Last Kingdom series where King Edward (Timothy Innes) died, Seven Kings Must Die sees the battle for the crown escalate. Now Uthred (Alexander Dreymon) must step up and rally his comrades across a fractured kingdom in hopes of uniting England. The fantasy epic comes out on April 14.

Based on the novel “The Flight Portfolio”, Transatlantic is a seven-part drama series that chronicles the activities of the Emergency Rescue Committee. In it, an American journalist and their allies form a rambling rescue mission to arrange safe passage out of France and into America for more than 2,000 refugees in the 1940s. The limited series stars Gillian Jacobs (Community), Cory Michael Smith (Gotham), and Lucas Englander (the witcher) as leads and drops April 7.

On a lighter note, John Mulaney returns with his fourth stand-up special for Netflix, Baby J on April 25th. After her comedy series Wellmania last month, Celeste Barber is back with a new comedy special “Well, thank you”. get personal about weddings, mental health, and celebrity brand sex toys. On April 19, the Power Rangers return to the screens with a new movie, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always, where the team reunites to thwart a familiar threat from the past and once again become the heroes the world needs. Then there’s Oh Belinda, where the life of a young actress (Neslihan Atagül) takes a crazy turn after she agrees to star in a TV commercial and is suddenly drawn into her character’s world.

Longest Third Date is a quarantined romance documentary that focuses on the relationship of Khani and Matt, who met on a dating app and, on a whim, decided to fly off to the Costa Rica. Unfortunately, that’s when the COVID-19 pandemic hit, putting in place lockdowns and travel restrictions, turning their momentary vacation into a months-long adventure. The Third Longest Date is coming to Netflix on April 18.

Meanwhile, Keri Russell (Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker) will star in The Diplomat as Kate Wyler, a career diplomat who lands a high-profile job as ambassador to the UK amid a international crisis – which has serious consequences for his marriage. The Diplomat airs April 20.
