Sid Meier’s Railroads, originally released on PC in 2006, will be available on iOS and Android in April. The popular classic railroad business simulation game is being ported to mobile platforms by Feral Interactive, known for its work porting games such as Grid Autosport and Tropico to mobile platforms. Railroads is the latest installment in the Railroad Tycoon series from renowned video game designer and producer Sid Meier, and fits right in with Feral Interactive’s approach to bringing popular simulation games to mobile platforms.

London, UK-based Feral Interactive, which specializes in porting games to different platforms (primarily MacOS, Android, and iOS), has announced that Sid Meier’s Railroads will be released on iOS and Android on April 5. registration on Google Play Store and Apple App Store, and will be available for download from April 5th.

The popular tycoon game puts the player in charge of a railroad company, tasked with connecting different cities to transport both passengers and goods. The game focuses on economic development, with the player having to contribute to industrial growth by connecting locations based on demand and supply factors.

Many storylines take place in historical times and places where railway development actually took place and helped the economy and industry at the time, including the UK, Europe and parts of the United States. The player also sometimes assumes the identity of real-life railroad tycoons and industrialists from the past, such as Cornelius Vanderbilt and JP Morgan.

While much of Feral Interactive’s work involves bringing Windows games to macOS, the developer has also worked to bring titles such as Grid Autosport and Tropico (largely based on Tropico 3) to iOS and Android.
