Bundesliga Betting Tips Preview | Matchday 26

It’s matchday 26 in the Bundesliga this weekend, and once again table-topping Bayern Munich headline the fixture list when they travel to Sinsheim to clash with TSG Hoffenheim at the Rhein-Neckar-Arena. That fixture is most intriguing for both RB Leipzig and SC Freiburg, who sit just two points off Hoffenheim in the race for fourth while having favorable fixtures against Greuther Fürth and VfL Wolfsburg respectively. Borussia Dortmund will be hoping for a Hoffenheim upset as they sit just five points off Bayern and face relegation-threatened Arminia Bielefeld at Signal Iduna Park. Here is 101 Great Goals’ betting tips preview for matchday 26.

Union Berlin (7th) vs VfB Stuttgart (17th)

Union Berlin and Stuttgart have had two different fortunes this season as they sit at opposite ends of the table with Die Schwaben facing relegation while Die Eisernen is in the hunt for a top-six finish. When they have come to grips in recent fixtures, the pair have played out four draws while stealing three points on one occasion each, but Union is struggling at the minute and has failed to find the back of the net in four of their last six Bundesliga fixtures. Stuttgart earned a vital comeback win last weekend, but they have not had the rub of the green all term and despite the high of last weekend, this could play out to a draw in the capital.

Hoffenheim come into matchday 26 in the Bundesliga this weekend as the in-form side in the top flight of German football in recent weeks, currently sitting on a four-match winning run and bringing a credible home record to bear when they host table-topping Bayern Munich. Bayern was frustrated last weekend by Bayer Leverkusen in a 1-1 draw at the Allianz Arena but still remains the odds-on favorite to win the league once again as they sit 9-points clear of Borussia Dortmund. The Bavarian giants have dominated recent proceedings between the pair and decimated Hoffenheim 4-0 in the reverse fixture. Though the Sinsheim-based outfit is sure to give a good account for themselves, Bayern should earn a three-point haul in what could be a close affair.

SC Freiburg (6th) vs VfL Wolfsburg (12th)

Ten points separate high-flying Freiburg and under-achieving Wolfsburg this season in the Bundesliga as Christian Streich’s Breisgau-Brasilianer look to keep hopes alive that they will secure European football next season while Die Wölfe must take it one matchday at a time if they hope to climb into the top half of the table. Both sides come into proceedings at Europa-Park Stadion on nearly identical form (3-2-1 vs 3-1-2), but Wolfsburg struggles to find the back of the net consistently this term (exacerbated by the expected absence of top-scorer Lukas Nmecha) could be a definitive factor on their travels given Freiburg’s defense boasting the joint-top defensive record in the Bundesliga. A narrow Freiburg win could be on the cards.

FC Augsburg (14th) vs 1.FSV Mainz 05 (9th)

Borussia Mönchengladbach (13th) vs Hertha Berlin (16th)

This is hardly a season that Borussia Mönchengladbach (fans, or club) will view as acceptable as Die Fohlen sit thirteenth in the Bundesliga table, but the opportunity to get one over on capital outfit Hertha Berlin, who are currently on the cusp of dealing with the possibility of relegation, presents a chance to arrest their poor form of late. Tayfun Korkut’s Die Alte Dame have secured just a single point in their last six Bundesliga outings in 2021-22 (0-1-5) while allowing 58-goals in the process across the season while having failed to secure a single win since the turn of the year. Gladbach has been a shadow of their previous selves with their own poor defensive record (51-goals) but a considerably better record in the offensive third of the pitch could see them come out on top here. Jonas Hofmann is missing for Gladbach, but they should be able to come out ahead.

Bayer Leverkusen (3rd) vs 1.FC Köln (8th)

A tricky tie awaits Bayer Leverkusen after Die Werkself as they come into a clash with tricky FC Köln at the Bay Arena in the match of the day on Sunday in the Bundesliga but could be bolstered by their 1-1 draw on the road against Bayern Munich last weekend. By comparison, Köln fought to a narrow 1-0 loss against Hoffenheim in front of their home support along the Rhine and have typically presented a tricky opponent this season though they have only netted two wins away from the RheinEnergieStadion and given Leverkusen’s joint-second best goalscoring record in the Bundesliga this term, the home side should come out ahead here despite a few absences including Patrick Schick.

Eintracht Frankfurt (10th) vs VfL Bochum (11th)

If recent meetings are anything to go by, Eintracht Frankfurt is looking at three points on paper after 15-points from a possible eighteen across their last six outings against Bochum in recent years, but only two points separate the two as the pair look to climb into the top half of the table as the 2021-22 Bundesliga season edges closer to its completion. Die Unabsteigbaren has performed admirably in recent weeks while losing just once in their last six Bundesliga matches (2-3-1), while Die Adler has struggled of late but come into the weekend on the back of a 4-1 win against Hertha. Bochum continues to struggle for goals overall while scoring ten fewer than their upcoming opponents and Bochum’s inconsistency in creativity could be a defining factor here. Bochum also struggles mightily away from home while Frankfurt has lost four in a row at home so a draw could result here.

Borussia Dortmund (2nd) vs Arminia Bielefeld (15th)

Borussia Dortmund comes into their Sunday Bundesliga clash with Arminia Bielefeld on the back of a typically frustrating draw against FC Augsburg away from home but looks to bounce back against an Arminia Bielefeld outfit that is fighting off relegation. Die Schwarzgelben has not lost against Die Arminen in their last six clashes (5-1-0) and baring a huge underperformance from Marco Rose’s men, Bayern’s chief domestic rival should pick up all three points despite the huge Covid outbreak that has gripped Dortmund recently. A large swath of first-team stalwarts will be unavailable on Sunday for Rose, and though Dortmund really should be winning, it could be a closer affair on the scoresheet than many will expect.

Greuther Fürth (18th) vs RB Leipzig (5th)

It should be one-way traffic at Sportpark Ronhof Thomas Sommer when Greuther Fürth welcomes RB Leipzig to Bavaria as Kleeblätter looks to spring an unexpected shock three-point haul in front of the home support against a Die Roten Bullen outfit eager to leapfrog Hoffenheim this weekend and back into the top four. Leipzig dominate recent meetings between the two (4-1-0) which included a 4-1 win in the reverse fixture in the Hinrunde this season, and an injury crisis at Fürth should really only solidify the potential result as Domenico Tedesco must only contend with Marcel Halstenberg and Tyler Adams the only absentees for the visitors. A repeat heavy defeat for Fürth could, unfortunately, be on the cards as a result.
