2nd midweek Premier League fixture set to be postponed
A 2nd of the upcoming slate of Midweek Premier League fixtures is in line to be postponed, it has been confirmed.
Covid chaos
The last couple of weeks, of course, have proven nothing short of a disaster in the Premier League.
This comes as the new Omicron variant of Covid-19 rapidly spreads across the English top-flight landscape.
Outbreaks have been reported at the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea, Leicester City, Tottenham and Watford, leaving the Premier League powers that be with little choice but to postpone a host of fixtures at the last minute.
Just this weekend, for example, the scheduled meetings between all of Liverpool and Leeds, Wolves and Watford, and Burnley and Everton have fallen victim to the Covid surge in England.
Arsenal vs Wolves off
And now, as alluded to above, yet another fixture, this time part of the upcoming slate of midweek ties, has been added to the ever-lengthening list of Premier League postponements.
The matchup in question? Arsenal vs Wolverhampton Wanderers.
As confirmed by reliable outlet The Athletic, the Emirates showdown is in line to be called off at any moment, owing to the situation in the latter’s camp:

It’s the second postponement for #WWFC after their Boxing Day game was also called off due to COVID-19 cases in the Watford camp.

This, in turn, means that a minimum of two of this week’s fixtures in the English top-flight will not be played out, after Leeds’ clash with Aston Villa was too postponed for Covid-related reasons.
