Arsenal face Liverpool at Anfield in five days

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal face their toughest test of the season thus far as they look to stretch their unbeaten run to 11 games as they head to Anfield to take on Liverpool.

The Gunners have been in impressive form in recent weeks, but have only really seen stiff opposition from Leicester City at the King Power, who they eventually dispatched comfortably. Liverpool, however, will be an entirely different prospect.

The Reds are set to be hit by a raft of injuries, with Andrew Robertson, Sadio Mane and Jordan Henderson all limping out of their respective international clashes.

The Gunners, for their part, are sweating on the fitness of Thomas Partey, and could be set to lose another African star.

Aubameyang misses Gabon tie

Now, through the Gabonese Football Federation, news has emerged that Gunners captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will miss out on their away clash with Egypt, although there is no further detail.

Aubameyang was taken out of his country’s last clash on a stretcher in the dying stages, but no word has come to the fore about the severity of his injury as of yet.

With the clash with Liverpool just 5 days away, however, Arsenal could be forced to travel to the title challengers without their talisman, who could be set to join Granit Xhaka on the injury table in north London.

Arsenal fans will, of course, be hoping that the absence is nothing more than a precaution.
