Drogba nets hat-trick in charity match
In a rare break from a slow international break, Marseilles Veledrome played host to a charity match between a team of their legends and a UNICEF team managed by iconic boss Arsene Wenger.
The game, called the “Match des heros” was being played for the dual charities of UNICEF and the Didier Drogba foundation, and ended up being far more entertaining than initially expected.

While F1 star Pierre Gasly found himself on the scoresheet, it was the man who’s foundation was being played for, Didier Drogba, that stole the show. The former Chelsea and Marseilles legend, who netted 164 times for the London club in 381 appearances, found himself taking home the match-ball as he netter a further three for Marseilles, despite having been retired since November 2018.

Chelsea will be hoping that in Romelu Lukaku, they have signed a man even half as good as Drogba was for the Blues.
