Outrage As Blackout Eclipses Over National Grid Collapse

Nigerians have reacted on social media with disappointment over the blackout in the country.

Taking to micro-blogging platform, Twitter, on Friday, November 13, Eko Electricity Distribution Company said in a tweet that the blackout was caused by a partial collapse on the National Grid.

“Dear customer, there is a partial system collapse on the National Grid that’s causing outages across our network. We are working with our TCN partners to restore supply as soon as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience,” the company said.

Nigerians have, however, taken to Twitter to express their angst, addressing electricity distribution companies by the defunct National Electric Power Authority (NEPA).

@pipper1290 wrote; Up nepa … Heat don almost kill person

@mamachell wrote; Everyday we argue that NEPA , OUR and other agencies have NO teeth. Yet still when they finally bite we say not so hot! Not there! Not 1 but 2 agencies say NOPE. I think we should pay attention. Just my 2 cents please don’t attack or be stupid. I don’t have the energy today

@mainstunner7 wrote; Someone said the reason why the match was played by 5 is because they are afraid that nepa will not bring the light by 7

@funshodrq1 wrote; Up Nepa is up Nepa. Which one be IELTS standard tweet?

Meanwhile, the head office of the Jos Electricity Distribution Company along Ahmadu Bello way, Jos, Plateau was on Friday gutted by fire.
