Osinbajo breaks silence on Lekki shooting, says ‘these are trying times’

Nigeria’s vice president, Professor Yemi Osinbajo has finally reacted to the shooting of #EndSARS protesters in the Lekki area of Lagos state.

Recall that on Tuesday evening, armed men in military uniform opened fire on protesters who had gathered at the Lekki toll gate for two weeks.

The shooting sparked a global outrage as many prominent Nigerians including international bodies and public figures criticising President Muhammadu Buhari and the vice-president for not commenting on the shooting.

Reacting to the shooting on Wednesday via his official Twitter handle, Osinbajo in a series of tweets said the victims will get justice.

The Executive Governor of Lagos state, Babajide Sanwo-Olu had earlier visited some of the victims at the hospitals were they were treated.

It is unclear the number of persons who were affected in the attack as there are reports that the soldiers who forcefully dispersed the protesters took away some corpses.
