Homeless Mother Of 4 Rescued By Police After Giving Birth To Baby By Road Side

Homeless Mother of 4 rescued by Police after giving birth to baby by road side

Barely a month after displaying a heroic act by helping a stranded woman who went into labour at 3am, Rapid Response Squad (RRS) operatives of Lagos State Police Command have rescued another stranded pregnant woman who went into labour in the middle of the road.

RRS operatives in Ikate Elegushi, Eti-Osa local government area, assisted a homeless mother of four after giving birth to a baby by the road side on Friday morning.
RRS revealed this in a tweet via its Twitter handle, saying it got a distress call from residents of the area and swung into action to rescue the woman and her children.
“Our officers in Ikate Elegushi got a distress call this morning for assistance of a homeless mother of four who gave birth to a baby girl on the road,” the tweet read.

“Our officers got to the scene and evacuated the new born and mother with her four children to Eti-Osa Primary Health Care Centre. They are all in good condition.”

A Twitter user with the handle @Greenaetion while commending the action of the RSS, tweeted: “Well done guys. Our police men are now beginning to work well just like the American police.”

Another user Olumuyiwa Coker tweeted: “Omg! This is excellent going by Nigeria police standard. God bless you guys. Thank you so much.”

“If only Nigeria can invest in training our Nigeria police just like the way RRS in Lagos are being trained, nobody would be complaining. Seems RRS are different from Nigeria police,” @Trendingsplash suggested.

Last month, while Lagos was on the second phase of the two-week lockdown imposed by President Muhammadu Buhari to contain the spread of COVID-19, RRS operatives assisted a pregnant woman and her husband to the hospital when they could not get a vehicle due to the lockdown.

The act earned the RRS several commendations from many social media users who wondered if the RRS also belongs to the Nigerian Police Force with a reputation of brutalising innocent citizens.
