On the 1st of February, 2020, the United Kingdom officially left the European Union after 47 years of membership.

The long awaited exit happened more than three years after it voted to do so in a referendum.

The historic moment, which happened was marked by both celebrations and anti-Brexit protests around the country.

This is coming following the 2016 referendum that saw 51% of the British population vote to leave the European Union.

Boris Johnson has vowed to bring the country together and take them forward, while also urging for closer economic ties with other European nations.
