A High Court sitting in Dutse has sentenced a man identified as Haruna Abdullahi to 14-years imprisonment for homosexuality, and sexually abusing a minor.

The prosecutor told the court that the accused man lured a primary six boy to his room when he sexually abused the minor.

The case was reported to the police division, and the victim was taken to a General hospital where it was confirmed he has been sexually abused.

The accused, Abdullahi, confessed to committing the crime before the court and begged for leniency.

The presiding Judge, Usaini Ahmed Taura ruled that the offense is punishable by law.

He, however, sentenced him to 14-years imprisonment without a fine option.

Information Nigeria recalls that Former President Goodluck Jonathan, had, in 2014, without announcement,  passed a law, making it illegal for gay people to even hold a meeting.

The Same Sex Marriage Prohibition Act also criminalizes homosexual clubs, associations and organizations, with penalties of up to 14 years in jail.
