6. Boost immunity and other physical health benefits by eating more fruits and vegetables. Socialization has been shown to lower the risk of cardiovascular disease, cancer, osteoporosis, and rheumatoid arthritis, among other diseases.

7. Improved health of the brain. According to a study conducted by the University of Rochester Medical Center, socialising improves cognitive performance. Having intriguing conversations with others, and engaging in stimulating activities for seniors such as card and puzzle games, keeps the brain active and nimble.

8. It encourages a sense of purpose. Spending time with others makes us feel helpful and gives us a sense that our lives have a deeper meaning. Having a task to complete, a destination to visit, and someone depending on us is a satisfying feeling. Being in the company of individuals we care about makes life more fulfilling. When others place their trust in us, we are more likely to look after ourselves and maintain our health for as long as we are able.
