Comet Lake is the brainchild of multi-instrumentalist recording artist and composer, Zach Rudmann. The West Virginia-based musician debuted his new solo project earlier this month.  Although his new EP is his first official release, Zach spent six years perfecting his sound before unveiling it to the public.

Citing the inspiration of genre-bending artists like Illenium and NF, Comet Lake blends elements of electronic and hip-hop into his own unique EDM-infused pop vibe.  His writing process begins in his home recording studio, where Rudmann writes and records the foundational track for his songs. From there he works with online vocal and production collaborators to bring his vision to life.

I Think About You is the debut EP from Comet Lake, released worldwide via all major streaming services on February 19, 2024. The five song set introduces a unique and infectious folk-infused EDM/pop sound. The record opens on its title track. Ambient keys set a airy scene. The singer offers a dreamy ballad of love and longing as the track builds to dream-pop/deep house anthem. 

A melancholy minor-key alternative rock guitar opens the introspective “I Don’t Know”, before the beat drops some big dubstep and progressive house energy on that mood.  The record then leans-in on Comet Lake’s folky side for “Disappear” and Trapped, a pair of heartbreaker torch songs that explore feelings of loss, loneliness, and indecision.

Zach flips the script for the EP’s closing bonus track. The appropriately titled “Digital Embrace” dives deep into the matrix. Big House vibes meet synthwave melodies and an up-tempo drum machine beat as the record rides out on retro groove.
