Saylor Dollar is a multi-instrumentalist singing-songwriting duo from Tallahassee, Florida. They made their recording debut in 2019 with the album Home. That track introduced a prolific pair of mountain music virtuosos with a sound built on generations of tradition.
Lisa Dollar (vocals, fiddle, bass, and mandolin) and Dale Dollar (guitar, banjo, and mandolin) cite a broad spectrum of artists and genres as inspiration for their acoustic countryified blues vibe. Theirs is a fluid mix of Americana, folk, bluegrass and blues. It is a live, organic, and vibrant sound.
Old Moon Reverie is the brand new EP from Saylor Dollar, released worldwide via all major streaming services on February 1, 2024. The five-song acoustic set is a perfect introduction to two top-notch players at the top of their game. We hear the talented Dollar duo playing their hearts out, unadorned by studio trickery.
From the opening finger-picking frenzy of “My Disaster” to the world-gone-mad observations of “Throwing it In”, Saylor Dollar pairs world-class musicianship with introspective and poetic lyricism. Dale lays down the groove with incomprehensible dexterity while Lisa accents her soulful observations with some smoking bluegrass fiddle.
Seasoned players, the Saylor Dollar duo creates a rich and nuanced vibe without the need of a rhythm section. They weave blues riffs, country tradition, and folky bohemian philosophy into something new. If alt-country queen Victoria Williams were to collaborate with Jorma Kaukonen’s legendary delta blues project Hot Tuna, they’d make a great double bill with Saylor Dollar.
