Jodie Fox is an emerging independent singer-songwriter who made her solo professional recording debut in 2021 with the single “Believe”. That track introduced a multi-talented singer-songwriter and musician with an expansive vocal range and eclectic tastes. Her sound ranges in style from theatrical ballads to chill instrumental electronic vibes.

Since her debut, the prolific performer has released nine singles, and has now dropped her debut EP. However, Jodie Fox’s musical journey began long before she stepped into a recording studio. The lifelong multi-instrumentalist started on piano at the age of five, and eventually taught herself guitar, ukulele, and any other instrument she could get her hands on. She is also an accomplished poet, and took first place at the 2021 Southwest Florida Poetry Slam.

Wayfaring Stranger is the brand new EP from Jodie Fox, released worldwide via all major streaming services on July 28, 2023. A timeless Americana vibe beats at the heart of this dreamy genre-bending four-song set. Jodie matches that mood with classical strings, percussive world beat rhythms, and Broadway-worthy melodic narratives.

The EP opens on the title song, a haunted reading of Johnny Cash’s biblically themed country/folk classic. Jodie Fox reimagines the tale with a Native American twist, leaning in on the song’s lilting vocal melody and adding a hypnotic rhythm backing track. “Ho’oponopono” further expands the record’s worldview, pairing Jodie’s passionate delivery of a Hawaiian healing chant with a mix of traditional and classical instrumentation.

“Everlasting” follows with a romantic and theatrical allegory. The singer is accompanied by a small classical ensemble as she sings of the metaphorical pairing of a fox and nightingale. The record closes with a powerful acapella mix of the title track. Here and throughout the EP, Jodi Fox’s delivery simmers with a tenuous balance of emotion and restraint.
