Brian Teubl is a veteran independent singer/songwriter who made his solo professional recording debut in 2021. Before that, he spent nearly twenty years fronting a number of alternative rock bands in and around his hometown of Cleveland, Ohio. In 2018 his band Sonic Sky caused a buzz with their EP Tremors. 

The record received heavy media attention and airplay around the globe. It was the album of the day on Valley FM 89.5 in Australia, and Sonic Sky was featured as band of the day on the UK blog The Moshville Times. Back home in the States, the band received radio play around OH and PA, and their music was even featured in some AIW Wrestling promotional videos.

In 2020, the unexpected downtime of the pandemic turned a single songwriting session into a debut solo album from Brian Teubl. The eight-song Ethos dropped in August of 2021. Since then the singer has released a string of singles, and now a new EP.

Vexed is the brand new EP from Brian Teubl, released worldwide via all major streaming services on March 10, 2023. The record opens with an acoustic version of the Sonic Sky song “Repent.” On the track, an acoustic guitar plays a groove metal riff in deep reverb while Brian delivers his heavy metal sermon. In the bridge the track takes a neat turn into goth territory with some deep choral harmonies and wall of power chords. 

Dark ambient synths and a minor-key alt-rock guitar introduce “Insult to Injury”. On the mic, Brian’s haunting vocals match that eerie mood. Soon the beat drops on a hard grunge groove. It’s a cool twist that brings to mind early Nirvana.

“M.Y.T (demo)” follows. The song opens as a rough indie riff-rocker. However, as the track progresses the mix builds into a trippy bit of psychedelia. The EP closes with Brian Teubl’s acoustic take on “Insult to Injury”.
