Vlade Kay is an emerging independent singer who made his professional solo recording debut in 2019 with the single “Haze”. That track introduced a talented singer/songwriter with a pop/soul/funk sound reminiscent of icons like Michael Jackson and Prince. Originally from Russia and based in the United Kingdom, he is an ambitious young artist with high aspirations.

Since his debut, the prolific musician has released over a dozen singles and two EPs. The award-winning songwriter has connected with millions of fans around the world with hits like “Dynamite” and “All This Lovin”. Detox is the brand new EP from Vlade Kay, released worldwide via all major streaming services on December 2, 2022. The five-song collection showcases this exciting artist’s classic groove. The record opens with the psychedelic soul and downtempo hip-hop beat of the sexy dancefloor serenade “Chanel”. The track sets the scene for a laid-back and groovy journey.

On “Dancing Through the Night”, Vlade Kay Drops an early Prince-style Minneapolis funk in the verse before the track opens up to its infectious disco chorus. The singer continues the late-70s vibe with the Off the Wall-era dark-pop funk of the title track “Detox”.

Throughout the record Vlade Kay is supported by an organic ensemble of drums, Nile Rodgers-style funk guitar and a classic analog synth sawtooth bass. He paints the edges of the mix with ethereal layers of impeccable vocal harmonies and ambient strings and synths. Within that framework, the versatile artist covers a lot of stylistic and emotional ground.

The EP closes on a pair of soulful and melancholy dream-pop torch songs. “Water” is a hypnotic downtempo plea with a chilled trip-hop beat and great minor-key hook. “I Tried” is a wistful slow jam breakup song with a modern r&b feel and some nice blues-infused lead guitar.
