PsychCloned is the professional name of genre-defying instrumental composer and multi-instrumentalist producer, Gabriel Pureco. Born in Mexico and raised in North Carolina, over the last three years the prolific young musician has created an impressive catalog of original material. He creates epic instrumental pieces that blend Jazz, classical and rock into an entirely new and cinematic sound.
Inspired by the soundtracks to his favorite video games, Gabriel debuted PsychCloned in 2020 with the album “Melodrama.” Since then he has released a remarkable volume of work including multiple albums, EPs and singles that range in style from classical orchestral pieces to bebop jazz and progressive rock. The Static Dive has followed his career from the beginning.
“Melodic Trance” is the brand new 5-song EP from PsychCloned, released worldwide via all major streaming services on July 15, 2022. The record is a full collaboration with guitarist Camilo D.G. with whom Pureco previously worked on the single “Full Throttle” and the album Sakura. In true PsychCloned fashion, the new EP is a wild ride through virtuosic performances and a broad spectrum of styles.
From the opening piano arpeggios, jazz bass and conga drum rhythm of “L’amistad,” until the credits roll on the dramatic power ballad “Sunset Serenade,” the record is a showcase of the remarkable compositional and performance skills of these two talented multi-instrumentalists. With frequent PsychCloned contributor Space Hobo on drums, they dig into a fabulous Spanish guitar and jazz fusion jam on the excellent “Mezza Luna.” Camilo lays down a nice bluesy guitar in the bridge before a cool piano and bass breakdown at the end.
The record’s title track follows with a beautifully schizophrenic tour through flamenco grooves, bossa nova guitar, Celtic-infused classical runs and even a little country. “Aqua Dance” opens on a melancholy mix of piano, strings and horns before Camilo’s guitar enters the with a complex prog rock melody. From there the song builds to a powerful instrumental anthem. It sets the stage perfectly for the cinematic closer.
