Spring is in the air and Psychcloned is here with a brand new anthem to welcome the season. A limitlessly prolific and talented composer, readers of The Static Dive know him well. In the real world he the North Carolinian musician goes by the name Gabriel Pureco. He started making music in hopes of creating video game soundtracks. In the process he has created a deep multi-genre catalog of exciting and sophisticated instrumental music.
Much of PsychCloned’s earliest work was electronic, written and recorded completely on his own. From 2019 to 2021 he released a series of four albums. Each showcased his unique style of Classically inspired cinematic music. Over the last 18 months Pureco has branched out. Collaborating with a number of other players he has released a string of singles and EPs featuring full ensembles of organic instrumentation. The records cover a broad spectrum of sound from Art Rock to Folk and Jazz.
“Spring Rush” is the latest single from PsychCloned, released worldwide to all major streaming services on March 18, 2022. The track opens on an acoustic guitar and drum intro. Gabriel’s frequent collaborator, UK guitarist Ryan Jones conjures images of the season with a beautifully melodic piece. Meanwhile, drummer Space Hobo drops some groovy syncopation. Pizzicato strings add a bit of movie magic to the chorus.
The song then shifts gears halfway though. The musicians cut into an upbeat jam featuring a funky mix of Alternative and Prog Rock. Each player delivers a stellar performance as they turn up the heat in a cool improv jam. After we reach the pinnacle, the song drops back to a mellow acoustic Spring day.
