Infuhme – 8 Questions & Emo Trap Lovemania

Infuhme is an emerging Hip-hop artist from the UK. The rapper made his debut earlier this year with the single “Help.” With that track he introduced his unique Emo rap vibe. Incorporating elements of Boombap, Trap and Darkwave his sound keeps one foot in the future and one rooted in tradition. Boasting streaming numbers in the tens of thousands, has already connected with fans around the globe.

“Lovemania” is the latest single from Infuhme, released worldwide to all major streaming services on April 14, 2021. It is the young artist’s third release to date. The tune rides on a slow and dramatic Trap beat. Ambient, ominous minor-key retro synths expand the sound, floating on the horizon. Rumbling, subterranean synth bass tones hold down the floor. Meanwhile the rapper drops a bit of stream-of-consciousness freestyle. He ruminates about the unhealthy state of a failing relationship, alternating between a hypnotic monotone and syncopated chopping rap.

8 Questions with Infuhme

Where are you from ?

Bristol, UK.

How long have you been making music?

On and off for about 6 or 7 years. I fell off the radar for a while (without being heavily specific). I got caught up in a lot of things that were detrimental to both my psyche/ livelihood in general. It wasn’t until a few friends/ family really cornered me over it all and told me that I needed to focus and find purpose again. That hurt, and so I did!

Who are the musicians involved in your project?

I currently just me and my synthesisers haha!

Who are your biggest musical influences?

It comes as a shock to most people when I run off a little list of artists. Most people of course expect me to list off the obvious rap/ hiphop candidates. For me personally though; Frank Sinatra, Amy Winehouse, Marvin Gaye, Lana Del Rey, Pink Floyd. Of course I can’t not mention the likes of Wu Tang, Biggie and Eminem!

What is your greatest non musical influence?

The area I’m from “Yate” (just on the outskirts of Bristol). This place is so vibrant, warm, friendly and diverse. On top of this, I would also say my mania strongly influences, as well as reading the philosophies of the greats throughout history!

What inspired you to create this project?

I took a trip not long before the start of our 2nd lockdown. It was intense to say the least, reflective, painful. The afterglow for days afterwards… I felt so inspired I started to jot down notes and feelings that I had recently or that I had suppressed relative to my ex girlfriend/ our relationship/ and my mania; mood swings and inability to settle. This is where the track “Lovemania” comes from. It’s an honest and scathing assessment of both of us.

What are your plans for the future (musically)?

Hopefully to get this entire project finished by the end of the summer and do a little tour with it! On top of that of course I will just continue to lock myself in my studio and keep working on something new. I’m restless and I can’t stand not being productive/ creative/ active!

Is there anything else you would like to say?

Honestly I just appreciate all the support and feedback I’ve been getting over the past month or so. I didn’t really ever imagine that I would have had the influx of interest – THANK YOU!
