Fish skin can be used to cure skin burn?

Researchers in Brazil are experimenting with a new treatment for severe burns using the Skin of tilapia fish,an unorthodox procedure they say can ease the pain of victims and cut medical costs.

The fish skin has high level of collagen type 1,stays moist longer than gauze, and does not need to be changed frequently. The tilapia skin is directly applied onto the burned area and covered with a bandage, without the need of any cream. After about 10 days, doctors remove the bandage.Fish skin which has dried out and loosened from the burn can be peeled away. The best part of this treatment is that, you do not need to take any medicine.

The treatment is used in both second-and third-degree burns.A second-degree burns is often characterized by blistering and extremely red and sore skin.A second degree burn usually affects the epidermis and the dermis, the two first layers of the skin.Third-degree burns are more severe and cause extreme damage to every layer of  the skin.Depending on the severe of the burns,it can take between weeks to months for the burns to heal, but the tilapia skin has been shown to speed up this process.
