If We Were Having Coffee, December 5th

If we were having Coffee today, December 5th, I’d invite you in and ask you to ignore the mess. We are planning on decorating the Christmas tree today and pulled the boxes of decorations from storage. In the meanwhile, come sit beside me. I’ve just made some coconut macaroons. Have some and let’s chat.

I’m sure you’ve noticed my absence lately. I used to post religiously, almost each day, but I’ve been a little lost this past year. Work is super busy and stressful and at the end of the day, I’m just not up to Writing. On a positive note, an old friend contacted me this week and we’ve decided to work together in our own writer’s group. I’m excited. This will force me to commit to my craft again and move forward with at least one of my many projects. I’m pretty sure I know which novel I plan to work on and can’t wait to read Jon’s work. This promises to be a productive partnership. I’ll be sure to give you updates as we go.

That being said, I’ve spent the last few days reorganizing my writing room. I must have pinned a thousand articles over the years about best writing practices and I’m ready to finally implement one or two of them. I’m going to switch my usual habit of writing in the evenings to writing in the mornings. I really like the idea of starting my days with this and since I’ve always been an early riser, it should not be a problem. In addition to working on my novel, I hope to get back to posting on a regular basis in my blog. I don’t think I’ve had as many gaps in posts since I began in 2014. I’ve pulled some poetry prompts to work on and gathered my writing journals. Time to get back to it!

What about you? What have you been up to these days? I can’t believe we are in December already. I’ve started my shopping and am excited to get together with family and friends. My mom and sisters and I have started to plan our annual cookie swap so part of my day will be spent looking at recipes and making lists. Do you have any favorite family traditions? I’d love to hear about them. I’ve missed you, friends. Hope to hear from you soon.

Until next time…
