CLOSE

Libraries, restaurants, museums and other facilities are closing across the metro Phoenix area to encourage social distancing, which calls for reducing human-to-human contact, as the U.S. grapples with the spread of the new coronavirus.

On March 16, President Donald Trump issued new guidelines, which included asking Americans to avoid gatherings of 10 or more people. In response, some local and chain fitness centers have announced temporary closures and other measures. Meanwhile, the Arizona Department of Health Services, following guidelines by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, recommends against gatherings of 50 or more people for eight weeks.

Here is a list of gyms that have announced closures and which remain open; this will be updated as we receive new information.
