Here’s some of the music and entertainment news making noise today and from over the weekend:

• NewJeans (뉴진스) continue to solidify their position as one of K-Pop’s most exciting groups. The five-member girl group have dropped the teaser music video for their track “ASAP” which is slated for release July 21.

• P-Pop visionaries SB19 kicked off their “Pagtatag” World Tour this weekend in the Philippines with two sold out performances at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City on June 24 and 25.

• Rah Digga, Swizz Beatz, Coi Leray and other noted artists took the stage at the BET Awards ’23 on Sunday evening, June 25 to pay tribute to legendary rap figure Busta Rhymes!

• According to an article published by Oricon News in Japan, ARASHI’s Ninomiya “Nino” Kazunari will co-star with Nakatani Miki and Osawa Takao in a Fuji TV Getsuku drama titled , “ONE DAY ~Seiya No Karasawagi~. The drama, which is set in Yokohama as the clock strikes midnight on Christmas Eve, follows events in the day of the three main characters; an amnesiac man (Nino), a chef (Osawa) and a newscaster (Nakatani).

• The three protagonists have no knowledge of each other or share any connection among themselves, however the drama’s compelling storylines and twists will reveal how their lives and circumstances are actually intertwined. Read the Oricon article below for more details…..

• Philippine girl group KAIA announces a trio of upcoming live guest appearances, telling their dedicated fanbase, “ZAIA” to take note and “mark their calendars”.

New Music Announcements

Popstress Olivia Rodrigo announces that her sophomore effort “GUTS” will be released on September 8 and shares a link where fans can go to pre-save the upcoming album release.

Agnez Mo revealed via a tweet that her and R&B star Ciara are slated to drop a collaboration single this Friday, June 30, titled “Get Loose”. I think we can certainly expect an all-out dance spectacle with this track!

9-member Japanese girl group NiziU tweeted a video teaser from their official Twitter account which highlights a number of important release dates related to their upcoming “COCONUT” album project. This will be NiziU’s second studio album effort. The dates are as follows:

• June 29 : “COCONUT” music video and digital single release
• July 5 : “COCONUT” album digital release
• July 19 : “COCONUT” CD release

Popular dancehall reggae artist Sean Paul teases his upcoming collab and music video premiere with reggae legend Beres Hammond, “Rebel Time”, set to drop tomorrow, June 27.

Milestones

• “Dreamers” by Jungkook of BTS has surpassed 300 million streams on Spotify.
• Burna Boy has amassed 1 billion streams on the Audiomack platform, sealing his stature the first African recording artist to attain this mark.
• K-Pop pop group ATEEZ garnered their first #1 Billboard placement as their latest release, The World EP2: Outlaw landed in the top spot of the Top Album Sales chart (Dated July 1)
