London Rapper Lil Murky Drops a Haunting New Track: “Rest in Peace” Delves Deep into the Abyss of Past Trauma and Pain

In the vast realm of trap hip-hop, emerging London rapper Lil Murky has left an indelible mark since his debut last year. At just 20 years old, Lil Murky has already dropped a plethora of music including two EP’s this year titled Fallen Out of Love and Tales of a Loner

The young phenom whose musical influences include such rap trendsetters as the late JUICE WRLD, manifests a vividly introspective lyricism which touches on a variety of provocative subject matters that surround mental health, trauma, anxiety, inner demons and other intensely personal circumstances.

Lil Murky continues his prolific pace of releasing music as he unveils his latest single titled “Rest in Peace”. The new single takes a head first dive into the unsettling realities of Lil Murky’s past trauma and the dangerous coping mechanisms it engenders; in the case of this track it’s the abuse of alcohol which is being used a tool of escape and ultimately self-destruction.

The ominous instrumentation is driven by a blend of booming trap basslines, cryptic piano melodies, and poignant lyrics, which as a whole, transports listeners into the turbulent depths of Lil Murky’s emotional landscape. The rolling cryptic piano riffs throughout the production further enhances the haunting atmosphere, painting a picture of a somber urban landscape.

While the lyrics themselves hold enough weight to garner the listener’s attention, the expressive, and deep-rooted vocal performance by Lil Murky lays bare his struggles with past trauma. His delivery exudes a raw vulnerability, his words cut like shards of shattered emotions piercing through the gloom. He conveys the sentiment of those emotions with a remarkable authenticity that can literally be heard with every bar that comes out of his mouth.

“Rest in Peace” paints a stark picture of a young soul teetering on the edge of self-obliteration, caught in a relentless cycle of numbing pain rather than confronting it head-on. Lil Murky’s poignant storytelling ability shines through as he weaves a narrative that speaks to the universal experience of grappling with inner demons and the desperate search for solace.

Lil Murky’s ability to captivate listeners with his introspective lyricism, combined with his distinct vocal timbre, sets him apart as a promising voice within the trap hip-hop scene. As he continues to navigate the depths of his artistry, Lil Murky’s potential as a boundary-pushing artist is undeniably clear.

“Rest in Peace” Lyrics

Pour another it is tempting me
Getting lost in my mind off the Hennessy (huh)
I need more than therapy
Cause I’m mixing shit together like it is chemistry (huh)
It be in memory of me
If I keep going like this then it be rest in peace (huh)
It be in memory of me
If I keep going like this then it be rest in peace

It’s repeating ,repeating
And I don’t think I’m dreaming
All these Demons come and I defeat them
But they never stop so I can’t beat them
Trying to heal from the trauma and pain
But it’s rains down me again again
I can’t handle this for another day
You get the picture but thats not something I want you to frame

Everything is Slo mo (slo mo)
Now it got me thinking back to years ago (years ago)
My past takes over now I don’t know
How to let it go

Pour another it is tempting me
Getting lost in my mind off the Hennessy (huh)
I need more than therapy
Cause I’m mixing shit together like it is chemistry (huh)
It be in memory of me
If I keep going like this then it be rest in peace (huh)
It be in memory of me
If I keep going like this then it be rest in peace

I not sure how I survive
(Yeah)
Off the bottle again Just one more time
Woken up on the side of the curb
Shake it off but everything hurts
What’s happened last night it a blur
I have no clue where we were

Everything is Slo mo (slo mo)
Now it got me thinking back to years ago (years ago)
My past takes over now I don’t know
How to let it go

Pour another it is tempting me
Getting lost in my mind off the Hennessy (huh)
I need more than therapy
Cause I’m mixing shit together like it is chemistry (huh)
It be in memory of me
If I keep going like this then it be rest in peace (huh)
It be in memory of me
If I keep going like this then it be rest in peace

My problems are adding up
I think I’m out of luck

In this cycle I get stuck
So I get to the drinking cause idgaf

Don’t know where to start
From myself I feel far apart
It’s like a fraction of me has been cut in half
my remainings have been left in the dark

I don’t think this something to get over
So I gamble with my life no poker
Off the Hennessy I’m not sober
To the end, am I getting closer

Don’t know where to start
From myself I feel far apart
It’s like a fraction of me has been cut in half
my remainings have been left in the dark

I not sure how I survive
(Yeah)
Off the bottle again Just one more time

Woken up on the side of the curb
Shake it off but everything hurts
What’s happened last night it a blur
I have no clue where we were
