After receiving roaring reviews from critics and performing amazingly well at the box office count, Rani Mukerji’s latest undertaking “Hichki” was been selected for a screening at the Shanghai International Film Festival in China.The screening held on the opening day of the festival, viz June 16, and it was a part of the Belt and Road Film Week of the festival. The trending news on screening of film at the Shanghai International Film Festival came in view after trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted. He wrote “The much-appreciated #Hichki will be screened at the Belt and Road Film Week of Shanghai International Film Festival in China.Screening takes place on 16 June 2018 [festival?s opening day]”. He also commented that “Director Siddharth Malhotra will interact with members of audience, post screening.”
Director Siddharth Malhotras “Hichki” is modification of Brad Cohen’s autobiography “Front Of The Class”: which reveals “How Tourette Syndrome Made Me The Teacher I Never Had”. The film twists around the story of a determined teacher Naina Mathur, who says “I was born to be a teacher.She suffers from nervous system disorder “Tourette syndrome” a neurological condition that forces an individual to make involuntary repetitive movements or sounds. The movie depicts how embarassing someone can feel with this disorder but she balances her personal and professional fronts very well.
The movie was produced by Maneesh Sharma under the Yash Raj Films banner. The film earned well at the box office and collected over Rs. 76.54 crore.It is worth considering that Hichki got a standing ovation from the audience at the Shanghai International Film Festival. Celebrating the honour Malhotra shared a few awesome images of the film’s screening over social media, and quoted it: “What an honour and an overwhelming feeling when your work gets a standing ovation from a foreign audience who simply watches a film with subtitles and gets moved to tears/laughter.
