Professional Belgian cyclist, Bjorg Lambrecht has passed on subsequent to smashing during the third phase of the Tour of Poland.

The youthful cyclist died on Monday, August 5, 2019, at 22 years old.

Bjorg Lambrecht went down in an accident close to the town of Zory during heavy rainfall and struck a culvert. He was quickly treated by the race’s medical staff, and required emergency resuscitation.

The Belgian rider collided with a concrete culvert around 60 miles from the finish line of the third stage from Chorzow to Zabrze during heavy rainfall.

As per The Sun, he was quickly treated on the scene at that point taken to a close-by hospital in Rybnik by ambulance, but died during surgery.

“We tried to give a heart massage just afterwards, then we called for a helicopter but his condition was so serious it wasn’t able to transport him,” race specialist Ryszard Wisniewski said.

Lambrecht was taken to a medical clinic in a an ambulance, where he did not survive emergency surgery.

Lambrecht was viewed as one of Belgium’s most promising riders and in 2017, won the Under-23 version of the prestigious Liege-Bastogne-Liege race.

He additionally won the Best Young Rider competition at the Criterium de Dauphine in June.
