A Pay-Per-View by GCW
I wasn’t paying attention, and noticed I was not only something like SEVEN GCW shows behind, and there is a three day series of like 12 more shows coming up! I have no idea if I’ll be able to catch up, but I will sure try my best. Not that this site is a hub for anyone that absolutely HAS TO read my reviews on wrestling or anything, but I feel like I should keep it up for the few of you that show these posts some support. Speaking of those shows, Just look at this!!!!
Going back to January of this year lands us into the Most Notorious PPV. This show and another one called Say you Will actually happened before The WRLD on GCW, but I missed them and have decided to go back. As with any of these shows, they usually come in two packs at a discount, so I would go for that if you are looking into this. Just based on the poster alone, I was excited to see how exactly Kevin Nash factored into anything on the show, and wanted to see Jimmy Jacobs since he has been working backstage more than not.
For anyone wanting to watch this, I would recommend Fite.TV. you can get some FITE credits (10 dollars I believe) with the following code: “6m6lyyn”. I’m sure there are other ways to watch it, but FITE has a solid interface and has been worth it so far.

My Thoughts:
As I’ve stated before, my methodology for this is to avoid giving arbitrary star ratings or anything resembling the typical ratings people give in wrestling reviews. I stopped awarding “grades” to things long ago, after my gig at a videogame site slid into them manipulating scores. I usually go through the show and pull a half-dozen or so things that I thought were significant or that I liked. You might think some of my choices are dumb and that’s okay – we all like different things!
Ninja Mack!!!
I know some folks don’t like Lucha Libre and try to compare it pejoratively to a circus show, which is funny because professional wrestling was literally created as a circus show, but I digress. What better person to do some of the crazier lucha moves out there than a literal former acrobat – enter Ninja Mack! What this guy lacks in experience, he makes up for in spades with his Cirque Du Soliel training and high flying moves. Move of the match was him running across the backs of a camera guy and tech to get up to a balcony, then doing a flip off of it. Ninja Mack does some things like make Jeff Hardy look like Giant Gonzalez in comparison.
A Random Kevin Nash Appears!
Perhaps because of the show taking place in his backyard, Kevin Nash randomly showed up on here. He was there to hype the crowd, hock his new marijuana products (lol), and talk about his return to Detroit in general. Nash hilariously cut a meandering promo, admitted he was stoned, and generally made the crowd have a blast. Nash gets a lot of crap by some fans, but it seemed like he genuinely wanted to be there. Nash introduced Alex Shelley, who he used to manage in TNA – awesome callback!
Great as Always
The moment Jimmy Jacobs came to the ring to Goodbye Horses by Q Lazarus, I knew I was in for a treat. This match reminded me of old school TNA and ROH matches that made me fall in love with what was called “indy wrestling” in the early 2000s. The crowd was definitely behind the hometown guy Alex Shelley, and that love carried him through to a nice hometown pop at the end.
The Cheapest of Heat!
Maaaan this stuff is so good LOL Between this and what he did a few weeks later in New York, I haven’t seen a crowd hate somebody so much as the GCW crowd in Regards to Chelsea Green and Matt Cardona. You could have him start a new version of the nWo there and people would pay to watch him get the crap kicked out of him. Calling himself an “ECW Original” because of his debut on the WWE version of the brand, then hyping up Ezekial Jackson as the real “last ECW TV Champ”, was amazing. Rhino of course has the crowd behind him 100 percent, which means a riot nearly broke out when he lost. Now carrying the ECW Television Championship for nuclear heat, Cardona sets his sights on Joey Janela.
The Homicidal, Suicidal, Genocidal, Death–Defying Maniac:
Sabu pops up on here at one point, and is honored by the ring announcer for a solid pop from the crowd. Of course this was ruined by the despicable Atticus Cogar who came out to talk a bunch of smack before his match. Matthew Justice comes out to beat the crap out of Cogar, and make the save for Sabu. Cogar ends up winning the match, but Justice gets the last word and Sabu has his moment.
Can’t say I Expected this Match:
Having Bussy (Allie Katch and Effy) Wrestle the team of 2 Cold Scorpio and Rickie Morton is the stuff of create a wrestler matches in a videogame, but here we are in 2022 and GCW did it! Solid match all around, good to see such a wild mix of styles at play, and it was fun for the fans.
Conclusion:
This was a solid show all around, while it wasn’t a big production like the Hammerstein Ballroom show, it had a great crowd and some cool moments. For Detroit fans, this was definitely a send off of some if the people that made that city’s wrestling scene so great, guys like Rhino, Sabu, Alex Shelley and Kevin Nash were all great to see, and helped elevate the show for sure. As you all know, I’m not as into deathmatches as other GCW fans, but that main event was even not too bad of a match. Keep the momentum going GCW, always good to see so many options for fans out there!
